Suggestion for laptop to create content

What are some tips for creating compelling content on YouTube, specifically regarding skiing and snowboarding, and which laptop models are recommended for editing high-quality videos for the platform?

any laptop with a half decent processing chip will work. Also prioritizing footage in your workflow will help your laptop balance out import export and upload download speeds

I got a standard Mac. That thing runs like a jet engine. when I export I have to but it in the fridge so it doesn't overheat. 2/10 would not recommend.

Is there a specific reason it needs to be a laptop?

I have always found that desktop computers work better for editing. Additionally, desktops are a lot easier to upgrade in the future, so you can buy something that works now, but add more ram, hardrive space/ faster drives, better gpu etc as you need it later. Dollar for dollar, desktops tend to provide better value as well.

I know laptops are a lot more portable and if you tend to move around a lot then that's probably the way to go. However, if a desktop is at all feasible, you will likely be way happier with it as an editing rig.

The computer you need really varies based on the quality of the video you are editing and the length/size of your files. If I am editing HVX clips which are 720 p I can use a pretty low powered cheaper computer and be fine. However, if you shoot with something like a new gopro or cinema/mirrorless camera where you're shooting at higher frame rates and 4K+ video quality your going to need something with some serious power otherwise your going to be waiting for files to render forever.

If you have a bigger budget, I would recommend getting the nicest Macbook pro you can. This will cost you over 3,000 to something that works. However, if you use an iphone and are creating videos for social media the workflow process is super easy on a macbook (airdrop, ect.). If you want to save some money get a dell or some windows computer that has really good processing power. Still going to cost a few thousand bucks but it's the best bang for your buck.

I use a new Dell Precision 7760 laptop that handles 5.3k video like a champ but I use a less powerful Mac pro when I edit photos or lower quality video because the workflow is so much easier.
