Sugarbush

The park looks like it's gonna be pretty dope.

"So after a tough couple of days we do have the beginnings of our big parks at Mt. Ellen.

The top half of reimergrasse is a down 24' box across from a down C Box, that feeds into a drop down loading dock and right into the three pack of jumps. The 36' Up Cannon and the 20' Vert wall should be the last things in before the reset for the Lower Rail Garden. There are also four Fun obstacles set up on Graduation( the Reach Around). We will continue through the week building and getting things ready for the Slopestyle event on Saturday."

The cannon, the wall, and the rail garden weren't up when I left at noon. The first jump is like a step over, over a spine. Then there's a decent sized jump, and the third one is pretty big. They were working on a 4th thing, but it was only a tabletop when I saw it, no jump or anything.

I saw a few guys filming today, I was in the blue Saga top and gray Saga bottoms.

they have a slope comp coming up on the 16th. hopefully i get a ride back that day, so i can go sunday instead of waiting til the 21st.

i cant wait to start doing some slow 3s and work on my 5s some more again.

heres how the park looks now. crew is still working on it and cleaning it up, but everything looks pretty sick. i dont know the measures and i am not positive on the order but it think it is like this:

down box/c box at the top

into a "loading dock" step down (5' drop, 10' gap it looks like) should keep a few little kids away... or injured

also found on the sugarbush parks! facebook page

and sorry for the shitty pics, im guessing they were taken from his video camera or phone

i want to learn fronts, just so i can throw them off the "loading dock" step down

looks like the took the idea from mount snow's cliff drop

actually, it was 60. the last jump was going to be this... but speed issues only allow it to be a 45-50ish. which is what it supposedly is.

and it is the harwood union slopestyle that is on facebook

You can still compete I'm pretty sure, it's just hosted by Harwood and the proceeds go to their freeride team.

Ok, I just checked shit out. Everyone can enter, idk about the proceeds, it was just a guess.

I won't be going because I just started skiing park this year and am nowhere near good enough, but I'll be up at Sugarbush on Sunday, and maybe Monday and/or Tuesday. I'll bring my GL2, if anyone wants to film /be filmed (it's a two way street here)

from the sugarbush parks facebook-

Just

rode the awesome jump line at Mt. Ellen - but then ski patrol came in

and roped off the park - apparently it was too big? The Park is amazing

for freestyle riders, but somehow woods skiers get to decide what is

safe for us...they can't even make it through graduation. I kind of

understand the whole jumping throu...gh

hoops thing, but it is still ridiculously frustrating. Sugarbush - just

let the park staff do what they are great at. Look b4 you leap, and

remember the park is a double black diamond - treat it like one - not a

bunch of whoop-D-whoops for your 7 year old. There are small parks for

that right here at sugarbush. We just want one trail to ride ligit size

park features adn train for competitions - remember be better here? Do

you guys even see what other mountains are doing now-a-days?

my guess (and hope) is that that was a joke because the park staff wouldnt build anything if no one could ride it. i also imagine that the park isnt open yet because it says that harwood is the first chance to ride the park. so hopefully thats all a joke because while the jumps look nice, they arent 60 ft true table gap jumps or anything

season pass holders pay $20, non pass holders pay $30

and that is rediculous about the "too large"

other mountains have parks with 60-70 foot tables in the large park. the largest one here is like 45-50... and everything is clearable

the only problem i see is little kids going over the step down and faceplanting because they dont know it drops on the other side. a simple warning sign near by would help that.

Thats fucked up

I rode sugarbush for a while and just moved out west this year and the big park at pc has a step down that is maybe a 50 foot gap but the kicker to the jump is probably 20 feet tall it is fucking massive and sugarbush is complain about a 5 foot drop

im sorry

i should be there sunday. trying to get my grabs locked on my threes... and possibly fives if i get overly confident.

ill be there saturday and sunday. i go to boarding school and am from colorado. havent skied the east since i was five. what should i expect? ill be in a ecto saga jacket and hybrid pants. my friend doesnt like the park that much. but im really hoping to spend sometime in it

Does anyone know if the little rail run on gradution(I think that's it, the one next to riemergasse) will be open during the slopestyle thing?

i dont know the trail to say if it connects with reimergasse or not (looking at the map online), but if there is a way back to the lift without touching the comp area, i would think it would be open.

ill be competingwe should take some laps before it startsill be wearing a dark purple jacket, dark blue pants, yellow tall t, white A frames with iridium lens, riding wolf anthems with griffonsstoked for it!!

worrd il look for ya! I'll be on afterbangs, purple jacket, white and purp pants, smith I/Os. Il be riding with my friend. in the afternoon stick around and we're gonna film a bit. (hmc150 and goproHD!)

im not gonna lie I was pretty disappointed.

the jumps were mostly mad skecthy so they moved the comp to the mini rail park and kept the same format - 2 judged runs. some kids payed $20 and non passholders paid $30 to have two runs through the semi-shitty rails. My friend got second in the comp and he didn't even get a prize. Not the best day... but I had fun.

Word. I would have thought they would have been a little bit more prepared. It wasn't really slopestyle, it was more of a rail jam.

Meh, that's debatable. The jumps on Inferno at MS are about 50', and the Dew Tour is only a couple of weeks away.

I'd be surprised to find a 60-70' jump out here, especially at this time.

ill be up tomorrow

i might just be in tshirts if the weather is like today, and yellow or grey pants

orange ns logo, white nordica, purple oakley, red small old ns, and white ec headwear stickers on my helmet
