So if you havent heard of him yet, Sufjan Stevens (a supposed folk singer, but not really) has begun making CDs based on every state (http://www.sufjan.com/50states.html). So far he has completed michigan and Illinois. "Illinoise", his 2nd state release is getting alot of good press, and a handful of people are even calling it the album of the year, so check out Illinoise if your into that kind of relaxed indiepopwhateveryoucallit and tell me what you think.

I have the greetings from michigan cd... since i live in michigan... but I thought about Sufjan doing all 50 states, and figured it was pretty much immpossible. I mean he released Illinoise a year after seven swans, and two years after greetings from michigan. Think how long it would take to produce 48 more cds that are actually the quality Sufjan has been producing lately... impossible...

God will probably power him to do it, or so he believes. Hawaii would be cool, Sufjan on the Ukelele.

Seven Swans is still his most solid release.

I have the whole Ilinoise album but the only song I like is Casimir Pulaski Day.. what are some other good tracks on it?

That's ccrazy how he's going to make an album for each state though

that is my favorite song for sure.

other good ones are:

John Wayne Gayce Jr.

Decatur

They Are Night Zombies!!!

i like all the tracks, but those stand out to me.

somewhat similar styles are page france, devendra banhart, the national, of montreal, the reindeer section, okkervil river and the weakerthans. check them out if you like sufjan

i just found out about him the other week, and i listen to him allll the time, im so glad other people think hes good, cuz hes so talented and his music is sick

wow no kidding, nice observation. all critiques of music getting popular aside, fatherless in ypsilanti off of mchigan is really good. decatur off of illinois might be my favorite. cashimir pulaski day was the 6th.

Illiniose was by far the best cd of 05 i love it, Chicago, Cashmir Pulaski Day, Decator, John Wayne Gayce Jr. they are all great songs.

just got it, great cd. so relaxing and different. i appreciate the wide variety of instruments used throughout the cd.
