I am thinking about holding the premiere for "Such Is Life" from Rage Films in New York City and was wondering if anyone on Newschoolers: a) lives in or around NYC b) and would be interested in seeing the premiere. I am thinking about charging $10 for non-Newschoolers and $8 for Newschoolers. There are going to be a bunch of free stuff to give away such as posters, an assortment of stickers, and swag from Rage Films' sponsors, including but not limited to: jackets, gloves, helmets, hats, shirts, etc. I have not set up a date yet because I am trying to find out if there is an interest. I know it will be a September premiere). Just tell me if you are interested in seeing the premiere.

Sparknotes: Fall premiere for "Such Is Life" in NYC for $10 (non-Newschoolers) and $8 (Newschoolers) and free stuff to give away.

I was looking at NYC because I live there and also because someone had a HUGE premiere for a ski movie last year. I was really just wondering because if 75 people come, I would be happy with that. Also, I think people from NJ, Conn, etc. might be interested. I might do one in Burlington but the problem is that I need someone from the area to work with me.

I think NYC would be a good spot...don't know how much support it would garner, but I'll make the trek.  NYC would definitely give it an air of legitimacy...could potentially attract a crowd unfamiliar with freeskiing.  Booze would help.  Put booze prominently on the flyer.  Have you considered philly?  Not far from the poconos, probably would attract more riders.

if i were you i wouldnt charge anything. premiers like that end up being so much cooler because it really promotes your shop as an awesome environment that lets anyone stop by and watch. way more legit

I am now seriously considering NYC and Burlington (Killington). About the booze part. The places in NYC I am looking at don't seem to "approve" of alcohol, but the ones in Killington seem to be fine with it.

8 bucks is expensive, don't you get all the money you make? just do 5 bucks man, more will come.

haha yeah^, but really just do nyc... you live there and between the kids youll get on ns promoting from now til then, and with local flyers, friends, etc you could get plenty. a lot of the people that will come might not be freeskiers, ive been to plenty of snowboard and skate premieres just cause its exciting and a good time, and i know theyd do the same for a skiing premiere. ^as for prices it all depends on how many people you get to come cause you have to pay 300 to license it. booze really isnt a problem... you could host a party at a house afterward if you could/wanted

my crew's from the philly area, so we'd probably be down for a road trip. nyc is always a good time. gotta love gettin stuck in the subway at coney island at 3am...

ill be moving into greenpoint, brooklyn in a week, now im on the upper east side, so yea i could totally drag my friends if there is booze involved. BOOZE

they had one last year. at some place on west 26th street i think. Maby find out from rage where that was and use the same place.

Just a little update: I do not have a specific day or week that the premiere is going to be on, but I know that it will be around March/April. I apologize for having a "premiere" so late in the year, but I need to host it then because it is going to be during the environmental club's (which I am a part of) Awareness Week. Also, almost all of the money from the ticket revenue will be donated to the environmental club. Also, even though it says the price of the ticket is going to be around $10 to $8, it might decrease depending on the other members of the club. (But I will try and give all the Newschoolers that go to the premiere a discount).
Another little bit of info: I have been talking to some companies to help sponsor the premiere such as ONLY NY (www.onlynylives.com), Sick Stickz (www.sickstickz.com), and ON3P (discussions are going on as I type this). But these are not the only sponsors; there will also be some stuff from all of the Rage Film sponsors including: Spyder, Salomon, POC, Fischer, Dakine, etc.
Thanks to everyone who has shown interest in going to the premiere and if you have any comments/suggestions/etc., just send me a message.

A premier in march/april? Why don't you just wait for rages new movie or something? Seems like a dumb idea.

I live in Astoria, I'll be there if there is a premiere. I was at IF3 and saw Such is Life, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Off topic:Are you the guy who put the ONLY stickers all over the entire city?

I was going to do it in September, but then it would not have been a fundraiser. I felt it was appropriate to hold it for a good cause.
