should i get 1 15 inch sub r 2 12 inch subs i am not sure

i need to save money any suggestions would be great

a 15 and 2 10's seems ridiculous. I can shake the glass in my Subaru with 1 high quality 10" sub (Alpine Type-R with a amp pushing 550 watts RMS)

Whatever you do, get an amp that can push the adequate RMS or you are losing potential and sound quality.

Get one 10 or 12, that will be plenty. You wouldn't ever use two 12's to their full power, unless you're one of those douches who blasts rap at the loudest volume they can when they drive through their suburban neighborhood.

what about 1x15 and alpine type s door speakers?

would that provide sufficient boom and quality?

yeah, that always pisses me off so much, for me its mostly dubstep and shit like that and its only ever on the freeway or away from peoples houses at night.

replacing the speakers is a MUCH better, and cheaper way to imrove your cars sound quality. ITs fucking stupid IMO to get a sub and have stock speakers.

BTW the i just got a 97 subaru outback legacy

so i have room and i do not need the back for anything so i have room looking to spend under 300

Dude, I spent almost $300 on my Amp for ONE 10" sub. There is NO WAY you can get a setup that is 1 15" or 2 12" and an Amp and Wiring for under $300 and not be absolute shit.

I was going to say the same thing but I realized he is only talking about getting subs

But if you are talking about getting an entire system for under 300 not going to happen

I also have a 10 inch type r and it still cost about 500-600 dollars when you include amp, sub, head unit, wiring, install etc..

yeah thats what i am starting to consider so i might just go with some nice door speakers and a stereofirst

is stereo the right term i never know i say stereo, deck, or head unit

That's what I did. I have a quality Sony Xplode deck (ipod hookups, bluetooth, the works) and Alpine type R speakers. It sounds way good. And surprisingly the speakers can really bump. I can get my rear view mirror to shake pretty good if I turn it up.

Stock speakers + subs = No good

One of my friends has one 15" type R and it hits sooo much harder than my two 12" subs... prob because its a better brand though. Also, I would recommend a monoblock amp.

2x12 pushes more air than a 1x15, so if you like having your bass at douche bag levels, I suggest 2x12.

I'm going to have to upgrade my car's system soon, my speakers are blown and sound like shit.

I have a few questions though.

How durable are those door speakers? I don't listen to absurdly loud, bass heavy music, but I want to be able to if i feel the urge.

Is a new head unit necessary? I don't really see what the difference would be, and I'd love to save the money if possible.

If I was buying those door speakers, what other things would I have to buy?

+K for good answers, of course.

I have one 12inch jl w3 with 500 watts goin to it in my jetta and shit sounds nice, its loud enough to shake everything but its balanced with my speakers so it sounds fuckin prime.
