Substitutions for waxing your skis?

Any one know any good house hold items that can be used to wax your skis. On a budget can't afford to always get skis waxed or buy the wax iron and kits. So list things that you use.

well windex works kinda for one run, not sure how good it is for your bases

i hear this stuff REALLY glides

but actually, there is no substitute for ski wax. its not like candle wax or anything, its different

a cheap alternative is getting a rub on wax. I use Swix Glidewax when I'm too lazy to wax my skis or forgot to wax them the night before or something like that. It works ok, its good for what it is. It looks like a blue tube shaped bottle with a clear screw on cap, you just rub it on the bases, wipe it off, and go.
