subs and amps (why so cheap?)

well I am lookin at getting a small amp and sub for my car. I went to best buy and they had thses amps made by Dual (is Dual any good??) and they were only $70 for a 350 watt amp. they also had Dual 10 inch subs for $25. also they have Jenson subs for $25, also 10s. why the fuck so cheap. is it just beucase they don;t have alot of power or are they gonna blow out in 3 weeks?

i'll give you one guess why they're cheap. it's because they are absolute pieces of shit. You can buy jensen at walmart.

jus buy something good now cuz if u buy a piece a shit ul end up upgrading. my reccomenedation is an alpine type r sub

 
don't go to best buy for starters (or soundtrack or circuit city for that matter). go to car toys on college or quality auto sound on mason. or you can get killer deals on ebay, but you don't get the warranty

what do you mean by 'peices of shit'? do you mean the the sound quality will be shitty? or that they will brake? or that they are not powerful? or all of the above? if it is only that they are not powerful, I know that and that is fine! I don't want to be the shitthead at the light that is vibrating everyone else's car.

also is that amp ok (but not the sub) becuase I really don;t see how an amp could be bad. granted I don't know too much about this whole car audio thing however I am a fairly michanical guy (I re-wired my car speakers)

Power Quality = Shit (Although they might say its 700 watts or some shit it is still shit)

Overall = Peice of Shit

Seriously man save up your money and buy something nice as Scratch said what you pay for is what you get.

Go to www.caraudio.com and find something you like at a reasonable price.

YES AN AMP CAN BE BAD!!! the amp is what gives you the sound you want. no matter how good your speakers are, they will sound like shit if you dont have a good amp. check out boston accoustics, they have the best sound by far (for speakers) but i really dont know my car amps...

 
Boston Acoustic doesnt have the best sound there is. Shitload of companys out there that have equivelance of the same sound just not as well know.

alpine all the way...go for their lower end stuff cause its less expensive but 10x (at least) as good as any of the previously mentioned brands

i am selling my sub and amp if any one is interested 15 inch sub with box and 700 watt amp

And it makes me see, every puff that I breathe, potent herbs and leaves could ease the world . . .

ya also might want to invest in an alarm first so ur new investment doesnt walk. u might also want to bolt it down, or do both. thats waht i did.

 
^indeed. alarms are a good investment

eclipse, jl, alpine, focal, boston, infinity, rockford, and xtant are all really good bets, because they are mostly ''car only'' companies, as opposed to, say, sony or kenwood, which actually don't make that good of car stereo equipment

my el camino has a 2 450w half stack amps and 3 subs in the back bed and 2 subs and 1 150 amp in the front cabin...actually no, i don't even own and el camino.

yeah alpine Rf is good . My sis just got a 2500$ system with 2 jl 10s , premier gold amp , pioneer mp3 deck tweaters and 6x9s. The subs thump. Cheaper subs aren;t as high quilty and get blown easier. Also the amps can go to with cheap ones

 
like everybody said, you get what you pay for. if you want a sub thats goin to distort and probably blow out in like a year, go for it. otherwise spend the bucks and do it right the first time

you dont even need to spend as much as an alpine type r. i have the type e, the cheapest one, and it still sounds better than nearly any other subwoofer. dont cheap out on little shit though.
