Subject: New WRX/Impreza design (08)

every wagon is now an outback....like every audi wagon is an avant or all-road or whatever.....its just a tag theyre giving their wagons

i dont want an outback wagon though. i want a legacy wagon. i have a 98gt and my mom has a 97 outback. they're basically the same car, but the outback package makes hers handle like shit compared to mine. i'm sure there's a lot of people who want a wagon with a manual, no ugly extra plastic, and the better handling of the legacy models. i dont get it.

I think you yanks are out of luck. Im really hoping Canada still gets the legacy wagons. I don't need the extra plastic and 4 more inches of ground clearance.

I agree with SqueakyWaffle, that subaru looks like a mazda (looks like shit too...)

I really expected that would look better than that ugly thing.

u can get any subaru wagon u want, it will just be called an outback. they are just now calling every wagon an outback. i dont know why this is so hard to understand. u can get a legacy 2.5 gt outback, which is the same as this years 2.5 gt wagon. outback now simply means WAGON.

and for those of you that dont know, the 08 legacy can come with a 3.0 R V6 limited engine. it is now the flagship legacy, much mor powerful than the 2.5gt( to all those complaining when subaru actually made an upgrade). also, as i said before, the new ones will be dropped in the US in a month, so u can see the new ones then. i can pretty much guarantee that everyone will be happy when they drop, they are not getting rid of models, just bettering them or renaming them. everyone here needs to realize that subaru knows what theyre doing, theyve been doing it successfully for years now.

and here is the new sti.....it is another hatback(u can see if u look closely at the rear end)......it loos a bit different from the concept pics that have been released.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza has been glimpsed in pictures, but now we have a glimpse of the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

Illustrations published in Japan show confirm that the unpopular propeller motif inspired by the company’s aviation heritage has been replaced by a more conventional look. Andreas Zapatinas, former design director at Subaru, had developed the aviation theme in reaction to the bold grilles now fashionable in Europe, but a poor reaction in the marketplace led to his departure last summer.

For 2008, a new hatchback model will join the Impreza lineup, a reaction to the recent comeback by this configuration as seen in trendy examples like the Audi A3 and Mazdaspeed 3 five-door. We hear there's a new multi-link independent rear suspension under both the hatchback and the sedan.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI will be a hatchback, just like the 2007 Subaru WRC rally car. The intercooled and turbocharged, 2.0-liter flat-four engine will produce 300 horsepower, although the engineers have spent more effort on improving power at low- and mid-range rpm.

Full details are expected to be released at the New York Auto Show.

so everybody calm down, theyre not as ugly as those first pictures.

in the first pictures i definitly thought it looked like a mazda wagon too. not that it is ugly, but i;d like to see it stay unique. i think subaru has some of the best concepts for cars out there and i'd hate to see them basically blend in with other brands,.

Just talked to Subaru today. Legacy wagons are no more in the USA. Outback's are Outbacks, not legacy wagons. So you yanks are out of luck. The Legacy wagon will continue in Canada for only ONE more year.

And yes I know the 3.0 will be available in the Legacy next year, but unless its changed from the previous one, it's not a more powerful engine (only 2hp more than the 2.5L turbo and way less torque)

ive never liked the sti....all the body parts and the interiors are so ugly. the sti limited is really pimp though( looks a lot nicer with leather and a lip spoiler instead of the ugly wing) and the spec 9 sti is amazing......if u have the 45k for it

2 more horsepower and way less torque in the 3.0. its a flat 6, not a v6 by the way. and when they say they are dropping the legacy wagon, it means that the legacy wagon, in its current available trim, does not exist anymore. all wagons will be outbacks, which means shit outback trim.

is the trim your talking about just the grey on the bottom? i see it has a little lift but i dont see the ugly body moldings. if your that mad about the 3 inches on the bottom being grey, then go to a paint shop, but i do not really see what you are complaining about.
