hey im looking to buy a used (1999) Subaru outback, anyone drive one, if so how does it ride?

to be honest man i think thatd the ladies wouldnt dig the outback as much as a 96 range rover or somethin. you can get those for about 7,000

my fiance just got a used '97 and it's pretty awesome. rides really quite. doesn't really even look like it's seven years old. a subie is pretty much the typical boulder car though.

i drive a 98 outback, and its pretty great. i can drive it through drifts over the hood, and it handles it. the only downfall is that due to the all wheel drive, e brake turns and doughnuts are compromised.... but you probably wont skid off the road in a storm... so whatever. i love it.

a fucking range rover? dude, just stop talking, you have no clue. subarus are built like a brick shit house, my friend has an 1987 legacy, still running, 150,000+ miles. go for the outback, or any subaru for that matter if your on a low budget

dude definately go for the outback, thats what I have (a 96 with 208,000). great fuckin car, can take it pretty much anywhere I need to go. Ive done some crazy ass shit with my dubie mobile and she still runs pearl. e-brakes and donuts are hardly compromiesd, ya just gotta know what your doin.

The awd works real well on those cars. Tons of room for throwing in extra gear. There was a recall on alternators. My gf has a 1997 and the dealership had to replace it for free. So, take advantage of it if u buy the car. They also had a small problem with engine seals. You can expect to replace the engine seals around 80k.

If you're interested, i've got some 5-spoke, 16 X 8 inch wheels for a subaru. They make the car look and handle so much better. If anyone is interested, i've got pictures and i'll give a great price.

when i say compromised, i mean it wont e brake turn as good as a front wheel, and it wont doughnut as well as a rear wheel... obviously its still doable, but not as readily.

^ it's just as easy to get an all wheel drive into a drift or donuts. i have an 01 and i haven't had any problems with it. my car before that was a 91 loyale, it had 230,000 miles on it when i bought this car. they stand up really well if you treat 'em good.

my cousion got one recently, and my mom has an older subaru. They both run very well. The only thing about the newer ones is that there is a new safety feature where you have to push the clutch all the way in to shift it instead of just tapping it. And for whoever said somthing about a range rover is a dumbass, they are just status symbols, not even that great of cars.
