I have a 2001 Subaru legacy outback sedan. Yesterday the batterey light came on, and the parking brake light came on. I went and got a new batterey today, and both lights are still on with a new battery. The parking brake is down, so the light shouldnt be on, and there is a new batterey, so the light shouldnt be on. Has anyone else had a similar problem with their Subaru's?

do u drive stick? if so try and use ur ebrake to see if its broken casue theres a chance it could have snapped i think they can do that , ubt if it is that ud prolbally know by now

i dont know about your battery light but for the brake you probably need more brake fluid... you could probably just check your manual and find it in like 5 mins.

I drive a subaru, and the check engine light randomly goes off and on all the time, but I haven't figured out why yet.

It could just be a problem with the sensors or fuses.

it is the alternator, you didn't need a new battery.

If these two lights come on together in any japanese car honda mazda subaru etc it is 100% sure the alternator.

It may just be the alternator belt slipping but 98% it is the alternator itself.

yeah my subaru brake light is broken. it'll flicker on and off. but my cable is totally fucked up. like the button sticks and it doesnt always catch and yeah my ebrake sucks.

It was the alternator, but i did need a new battery as well. They said the battery had about 3 months left on it before it would die. So now i have to pay $270 to get a new alternator.
