Sturtevants

I know, but I already dropped them off at Sturts... Should I go get them and take them to EVO tomorrow??

Hmmm, everybody is backed up like 2 weeks. But Evo isn't cuz no one knows about em. Becky I'll do your skis tomorrow. But seriously anyone else who needs their shit done should really go to Evo, they need the business way more than we do anyways

No worries. Its all good. I took a gnarly core shot yesterday that was way worse than what you did to my skis. BUT I have a story for you.

Sean, I was taking some salomon bindings off a race plate from one of her other skis and putting them on her pe's. The heel pieces for the bindings were mounted directly on to the race plate with no lifters. However, the screws were apparently too long to be mounted directly onto a pair of skis without lifters, which is what I did. So when I mounted them on her pe's the screws tried to go to deep into the ski and started pushing her base out in four little dots on each ski. After seeing those four little dots it occured to me that the toe pieces had a lifter and were therefore fine and the heelpieces didn't (why they were mounted on her race plates like that in the first place I have no idea). So to fix it, I ganked some lifters from some salomon bindings upstairs, pulled the bindings off and remounted them with the lifters then hammered the bubbles back in and tuned the ski. but those four little dots still stick out just a little bit on each ski.

And then Becky goes skiing and is turning to the right and all of a sudden the left ski isn't there and Becky sees it shooting off down the hill headed towards the woods and Becky is left straded on one ski wondering why the break didn't stop the ski. Oh wait, Becky gets down to the ski and realizes that there is no break, and in fact, the whole heel piece is missing. OMG. Where did it go? Well Becky's trusty friend ashley skis up behind her and is holding the heel piece. Holy shit, where did that come from? So after a few swear words and punches in the snow, Becky skis down on one ski, contemplating how her Friday is ruined and how she is going to kill Chris. That is until she realizes that the tusty shop at Crystal Mountain Resort can patch up the Public Enemies and have her set within a half hour. So a trip to the lodge, some food, and $15 bucks later, the skis are set to go with no worries. And had a kick ass rest of the day skiing with Ingrid Backstrom. Chris is lucky Becky was below chair 9, and not Powder Bowl when this happened. So thats my story and Im sticking to it.

PS. I rule at referring to myself in the third person. Its how I think.

hahahahaha nice!

but the real question is: did the heel piece rip out because of chris or because of the PE's?

first off chris doesn't have the best of luck with bindings, at least ones that i buy from him!

second of all pe's can't hold bindings worth shit! and once you pull the heel out, its just a matter of time before they break! well thats my experiences with PE's, but supposedly they've fixed that. but they still wouldn't warrenty my pe's! bastids!

two years ago the same exact thing happened to me. on the backside of stevens under the southern cross chair.

My heel piece ripped out, I was flung into tree, skee goes shooting down the hill into some woods never to be found again. I got to ski down the rest of the way on one ski and my shoulder hurting like a bitch because I bashed it on a tree.

oh ya, they were first year public enemies.

Beck did they hela coil all four holes??

the heel peice on my pe's is very loose, and i continue to ski on it anyways, so maybe i should bring them in to get them tightend, or else it sounds like all that fun is gonna happen to me very soon

the old PE's had lost of problems with pullouts, but not anymore (at least they shouldn't). If you have a pullout, maybe check with warrenty (although thats iffy, even for k2).

and dimpling a base is seriously no big deal at all. I did that to my Muira's cause the piston on the IBX plate is so far forward where the core is real thin on those skis.

Pushed them as best I could, but there's still dimples. No biggy. Stone grind will take that right off, plus you ski on your edges most of the time anyways.

YEah sturtevants is sick. I went in there yesterday cause the heel piece on my p1o's were fucked and they gave me a brand new one for free. So sick.

Yeah sturts is turning around. They still cater to old people that ski at crystal but they are getting cooler stuff and their prices usually are pretty good around sale time. Evo is cooler but sturtevants is improving. THeir tech shop has always been cool and helpful to me.

Most of the guys in the shop part of the store are down and try to help out the kids.

The retail part is still just old farts, but they really know their shit when it comes to boot fitting and stuff

god I love my boots so much. I'll never wear a boot that isn't custom fitted again.

First time in my LIFE I've skied without cold feet. I always thought it was my socks, turns out it was just the boots!

It can only be done on boots with heat forming liners, so your boots won't do it. I just bought my boots (Lange's) at Ski Bonkers, and it was free to do the molding at Sturts. Basically they stuck em on a warmer for like 15 minutes to heat them up, then strapped me in real tight for 15 minutes and the foam molds to your feet. Its SO nice!

haha, i went to REI yesterday to look for a helmet and a salesman was trying to sell a pair of 159 PEs to a guy who is 5'9 or 5'10 and a solid skier too. these people have no clue what the hell they're talking about- it's sad really

heh, i know about heat formed liners. i thought you were talking more along the lines of real custom liners, footbeds, etc.

seriously it's worth it to spend some time and money when getting boots.

Sean you should get some custom footbeds, they're like $120 but they make such a difference. Have either Martin at Sturtevant's do it, or Brent from world cup (they'll be like $150 at word cup)

^is martin the fat dude with curly hair? hes pretty coooooool...

i know a kid that was looking for new skis and is beginnerish that went to sturts and was recommended the new PEs and PX12's...................?
