Sturtevants base repair

so... today i pretty much mangled my skis on some early season extremely thin pow/ rock field at silver. anyway, my question is, does anyone know if i should just p tex them myself or should i take them to sturtevants when i get home on the 17th? i have about 10 shots per ski, and many are quite deep. a couple are just barely short of wood. so... does sturtevants just use ptex to fix this, or do they do something else that would work better? also, how long would it take to fix? and finally, about how much would this cost?

thank you very much for the help... sorry about all the questions.

and they can probably fix it better than you can, so i'd take it there. i'm guessing they use the conventional baseweld/epoxy and ptex to fill the shots. but then they have all sorts of griding machines and what not, which'll probably work better than trying to scrape ptex yourself.

Bring it in man, I've never estimated more than $20 in base repair, We can get your skis looking like new for less than 50

if its crazy deep I'd take it in.

kevin got a REAL nice shot on his skis today at alpental, and I'm not good enough to fix it.

part of my edges snapped in 2 places and dug into my base, can you guys repair that? i assume its from rails.

we could, but it would cost more than you would want to pay, and it would just happen again if you continue hitting rails. What kind of skis are they?

If you ever have a core shot right next to your edge, you should get it professionally repaired.

The problem with edge repairs is they'll never be as strong as they were originally, so if its from rales its just gonna happen again

chrissypoosunshinemuffinhups wasn't there today when i went in, but surprisingly i didn't get horrible service! $10 for one horrible core shot and some less horrible, but still pretty bad gouges. once i had paid the guy even asked if i wanted a quick belt wax for free. said he could squeeze me in while i waited too! no waiting an entire week for a base repair like i thought. and there was some hot chick working in sturts that helped me look at some goggles/lenses. not too bad, sturts has regained a little bit of dignity in my book.

hey maybe you just shouldnt get them fixed. my skis are pieces of shit, and they ski the same if not better than whne i first got them. the grooves and base strings are for looks. dont be a pussy. sharp edges and nice bases are for fags

the only problem arises when you get a full core shot (as kevin just got). cause once water gets into the glass/wood, your skis will delam.

if its not a core shot, i do agree though, you will notice NO difference in performance.

actually i noticed a fairly significant change in performance because pieces of it were hanging off like fins and were dragging. they felt really funny going into turns, and very unstable going fast, so i am getting them fixed.
