Stupid RIAA

I know there was the WARNING thread.. but that was a while ago. My dad just showed me this article about the RIAA sueing people. It's pretty gay, im not really sure about all of this. I thought it was just the recording industry trying to scare everyone out of downloading music, but this article made it seem very real. Yet, this article could be part of the 'scare America out of downloading music' scam.. Eh, what are your thoughts about all this crap?

Here is the article again

I know im not sharing anything... I found a site that suggests:

1. Dont share anything

2. Dont function as a supernode

3. Dont keep music files on Hard drive (move them to zip disks/cds/etc.)

yea, who cares, id dont think they can sue every person who has kazaa can they? NO, they cant, so forget about it and keep lisnen to those rockin beats

stick around and be no clown just keep on rockin' to the A-l sound

i wouldnt suggest keeping up with downloading music though, get rid of kazaa, you never know what might happen.

moving it to cds isnt gonna help because the hard drive keeps record of all the files that have passed through it, including mp3s that are downloaded. If they served you, they could take your computer and find it.

^^^ haha yes canada. i love it.

...tell me for the last time that you're sorry so i can laugh out loud as i watch you struggle; broken, bloody and barely breathing...

DONT STOP SHARING, its what THEY want you to do. If everyone stopped sharing then no one could download anythings. Really, think about it. There are millions of people using kazaa, there not gonna sue you.

there are 4,014,550 people on kazaa right now. i dont think they are going to track everyone down. they will go after the people sharing out a shitload of songs maybe

actually if you own the cd's you can have the music on your computer and it isn't illegal. Also you people who think that the border will keep you safe in canada, sorry to burst your bubble but it won't. Lawsuits can traverse country lines. You should be scared, should you stop sharing? no, just be smart about it. I personally am going to go war driving with around 25 gigs shared music and watch the industry chace me around. Like I said be smart about it, don't put your name as your username, don't share every song that you have, maybe the ones people seem to be looking for. Best of luck to all of you and don't get sued.

I really don't think it's morally stealing. I would much rather give $20 to artists I like to have thier music, and download a high-quality file. Totally skip the publishing companies. If I can fuck those guys over, all the best. If everyone does it, and really the only ones suffering are bloodsucking corporations, not only do I see it as not being a crime but an act of good.

I am scared out of my pants because I have 30,000+ files on Kazaa, and no that's not a typo, 30,000+, my dumb fucking poser brother (I say poser brother because he isn't my really brother he is my sister's friend who got kicked out and moved in with us) he somehow imported every single file on my computer onto Kazaa, not just like the documents you save but like every little icon, setting, noise, program, everything. A lot of people think that it's bull they are sueing, but it's. I was at my friend Tom's house and he was on the computer and they sent him this huuuuge message saying they were going to sue or some shit, I didn't get a change to read the entire thing because he didn't even bother because he doesn't have to worry 'cause he dad is the VT attorney general.

hey two up from here, why don't you just unshare them then...? I mean that would be the logical thing to do.

Hahaha, I wanna see someone who owns every CD for song they have get arrested, man he'd show the RIAA fuckers

i say play music because you love to play it, not to make tons of money off selling 20 $ albums. it's not like the artists are poor or anything they still have tons of money and still sell a lot of albums

yes, it is all one big scare tactic.. and, i truely believe that if it's on the net and i get get to it.. It's free. The internet is all about getting stuff for free. If you're smart enough to figure out how to get it for free, and you know where to look, you deserve it.

The new kazaa lite k++ blocks government IP ranges including the RIAA. So unless they're going to do it independantly through different ISP's, you can now be safer.

Lawsuits can traverse country lines, but it has to go through the Canadian legal system, and sorry to burst your bubble, but we can tell them to suck cock just as easily as we did tell them to suck it when they wanted us to join the war. they cant sue us for shit unless it goes through our court system, which my laywer brother tells me it literally can't. canada wins. i cant WAIT until i have a heart attack and get fixed for free...

2.4.1 that is correct. I have that version, seems like it is complicating their process of finding us 'stealers'. It's not like they arent going to be able to figure it out or anything. But, i guess it help's a little.

freezy - intellectual property rights are still very vague right now.. downloading a bunch of ones and zeros is not stealing.

binary reference.. nerdy. hahahha, um.. yeah, we should have to pay to listen to sounds? I like to think of paying for cds because you have to pay for all the equipment to make the cds, cds themselves, printing of the labels.. your not really paying for the actually sounds/music.. just all the crap that it takes to get to you in cd form. So if you do all that yourself, you shouldnt have to pay.

small fact, the RIAA makes money (very little but some money) on ever cd blank you purchase as well as every cd burner sold. So in my mind they already have there cut. But they legally don't. Also they aren't really objecting to the owning of the cds but the fact that you are sharing them accross the world with anyone. who made that last post from my account about the sharing a lot of music....
