all these god damn people buying all th4ese toyota prius's and thinking they are all badass when they get 35 mpg when that is shit compared to most good cars, think they are doing infinite good to the environment are stupid sor5rry but im drunk and i always hate on these stupid fucking people trying to save the wordl one tank at a time

haha wtf? i mean i understand what they think that they are accomplishing, and youre right they arent making a significant difference, but if everyone... and i mean everyone would drive hybrid cars, then we would make a difference, and slow down the increase of global warming, and above all save our slopes! and isnt that what really matters?

also stop driving in multiple cars if youre headed to the same place thats both a waste of gas, and it is one more car adding to the problem

Shut the fuck up dude. I can't TRY to get 35mpg from my prius. Try 50mpg.

You're right. Prius don't make much of a difference, but it's a damn good start for hybrid technology.

Porche AND Ferrari are getting into hybrid technology to help meet emission standards. Formula one is allowing regenerative braking in coming seasons. Rome wasn't build in a day you fuck.

You wanna hate on someone how about you hate on people who insist on driving f350s to the grocery store. You want to be part of the problem or part of the solution? As it stand you're probably too stupid to realize a good thing if it came up to you and beat you to and inch of your life.

i just looked it up and the 08 prius is supposed to get 94 mpg. thats ill. if they could now make a decent lookin hybrid shit would be dope.

The average hybrid car costs $5,000 - $15,000 more than it's standard combustion engine counterparts. That is a lot of gas to waste before making it a worth while investment.

I get shit for driving my Tahoe to tha store, but your '90's mustang thats beat as fuck isn't much better, an i walk to tha store as opposed to driving to tha store alot an only take tha Hoe when i really have to

*this wasn't talkin shit to you, tha mustang statement was directed to douches from my town*

i actually like prius' they dont even look that bad, i would rock one for sure if i could afford one as a daily driver and have a fun car on the side. but i have my bike for gas mileage, i ride it everywhere if i can.

I recently found out minis get 34+ (thanks megan for bringing me over to the mini side). I used to think they suck but they are actually sick cars

arent people like getting hit by prius's and stuff because they are so quiet
thats what y friend said but idk if its true

Right. When you look at it from a pure monetary investment, Prius are stupid.

But since when is ANY car a good investment? You buy almost any car these days and the value immediately drops. They're all status symbols that reflect what we want people to see. I want people to push for hybrid technology. I want my next car to be a hybrid BMW.

Down the road we'll have better technology to replace hybrids, but for the time being, it's the way to go.

There's a mini in my town that is sick as fuck. It's yellow with dark gunmetal grey BBS's and there's zero fender gap. It looks so damn mean.

when you think about it...after you sell your old car, then go by a new prius, and over the lifetime of the car, repairs, tires, oil changes, etc...you really arent saving anything...cuz you just spent what you would have saved on a 25000 dollar car...in fact you will most likely lose money on the deal...

yes and yes.

BUT they're doing some pretty good work with diesels nowadays. I forget who, but some luxury car brand has a 50 state diesel engine.

Fucking California needs to stop making it's own dumb fuck rules or else we're not going to have any damn cars.

no, your wrong. Thread creator is right. Prius economy is a bigger crock of shit than the governments anti marijuana comercials. the best a prius will get is 45-50 mpg. The volkswagon lupo diesel will get 90. priuses suck.

flash_video_placeholder.png

ah heres another. Yeah i agree anybody who brags about a priuses fuel economy is a stupid fuck

diesel is the way to go. cheaper in europe too. only 50 cents more per gallon here. But with something like a lupo or audi a2 you get 87 to 100 mpg FOR REAL. Not the priuses imaginary disney bullshit.

flash_video_placeholder.png

people buy prius's for commuting in stop and go traffic in the city. that's when the electic motor kicks in and you start to get really good gas mileage

people buy prius's to think they are doing something when in fact they are prettty much doing nothing because there just as much an a actual good looking nice car , also for the most part people dont drive like 40 mph around so there runnign there gas engine prob 75% of the time. i fucken hate people who drive these cars everyone i no in school i hate.

So have you driven a prius of are you just having your information spoon fed to you by choice sources?

News flash. Those people are as close minded as you are. You can't drive a prius like a normal car to get the best out of it. Instead of minimalizing brakes, you use the brakes MORE so you can recapture energy. People just want to bash the shit out of things that don't make sense to them.

As monetary investment a diesel car is better than a hybrid. But so are conventional jets as to Concorde. Where would we be if everyone had your logic? We would have stopped at the model T. We'd have telegraph instead of iphones. I'd love to see what your stock portfolio would look like if you had one. I bet you'd still have AOL stock.

You and I both know that the future doesn't lie with diesel fuel. Maybe a diesel hybrid, but after than it'll be bio fuel from algae, or hydrogen. Now how about you wise up and learn the big picture.

so true.

he shouldnt be hatin when its not just about how many mpg's you get, but about helping teh environment. theres no sense in trying to shit on people who are just trying help out.

i can c y people r buying them i mean to save money and all...... but when ever u buy one u r killing our (the US) economy...... cause everyone is buying foreign cars and for our US auto makers to stay competitive they must down size causing job loss..... and maybe u r helping the cause but u r also making gas prices higher by not spending money in the US and that then weakens the US dollar so prices will continue to raise for gas and anything else....... at least thats the way i see it

I don't even know where to begin with that. Let me just say that it got progressively more retarded, and it didn't start off well. You are the reason I don't vote, because my vote is equal to one of yours.

currently, my mom's prius is getting about 60 mpg. it drives about 400 miles on $30 of gas. I think its fucken awesome

hahahha chill the fuck out al gore. not everyone has a parent that can buy them a new car when they feel motivated to save the world. you are not better than ANYONE because you drive a car that hurts the planet a little less than others. part of the problem or solution? dont pull that shit. good youre driving a car that is great on gas milage, well how about you really be part of the solution, get a bike and not drive at all.

Well no.

The American auto industry is just straight up at fault for the situation they're in. Why did they keep on cranking out V8s when the rest of the world is going to turbo 4s, diesels and hybrids? Why didn't they invest in hybrid technology like the Japanese automakers? It's not hard to see that with the massive scale buildup of the East that there was going to be energy and material crisis. Now they're going to be playing catch-up for a seriously long time. If they can dig themselves out. I think 2010 will be a turning point for the American auto industry. Either we'll see a lot of fuel effiencent, competitve cars, OR we'll see some half assed attempt and it'll just be too little, too late.

And take macroecomonics. The American currency is worthless because of the governments weak dollar policy and low consumer confidence in American product. The dollar was worth too much as it is. Fuel will continue to rise. There is no way around it. China and India won't stop growing and we aren't reducing enough (or we can't). I wouldn't be suprised if fuel was $9 a gallon in about 7 years.

i feel i need to answer this as well...

for one thing, its called business. Another company offers a better product, customers buy it. I'm not going to buy something insanely shitty just because it was built in the US. The companies simply cannot compete with it, so they need to get their shit together and start making something just as good or better. Second, the US dollar does not directly effect the price of oil. It's OPEC who regulates oil prices. They are raising the prices, which makes it cost more world wide, not just here. Buying foreign goods does not make the price of oil go up that much. Its really the inverse, oil prices going up makes everything else go up as well

As for the prius, it might not be huge, but it is a step in the right direction so i support it. And most people don't even realize that it is truly intended to be driven in cities, or stop and go traffic. Not like a cross country road trip or anything

dude, in order for that statement to be taken with the slightest bit of seriousness first you need to stop typing like a 4th grader, then you need to stop pulling bullshit out your ass.

No I'm not better, but I've made a good decision to support the right technology at the right time. You're right. Not everyone can afford to get new technology when it comes out. But eventually, all these fuel efficient cars will trickle down into the majority of the used car market. Like I said, "Rome wasn't built in a day you fuck".

Right. Now if ride a bike everywhere I'll be limited to a couple miles within my residence. Sounds like you want me to live like it was 1800? I'm being reasonable. You're being fucking stupid.

if you don't need a truck or SUV then you're probably a pencil pushin' city slicker who should be driving an electric scooter to work, not a 4 door car.

pretty interesting article in my paper the other week,

it was saying how hybrid cars, though may be more environmentally friendly, aren't worth the money. It takes an average of 10 years for a hybrid car to pay for itself because they are more expensive than their non-hybrid counter parts. And Im guessing the article was referring to new cars .

so to any of you that splurged for the hybrid model, not to smart because who really drives the same car for 10 years?

In a few years hybrids will be cheaper and then hybrid owners will be able to save a lot of money. Everybody should drive motorcycles. If more people drove them they would be a lot safer. I think they even made a hybrid motorcycle that gets like 150 mpg or maybe even more, I forget.

My car gets 10 mpg! Half the time when I drive it, the gas gauge is below the lowest level and on the actual letter E.

shit's sketch.
