Stupid customers

so i work in a ski shop and i hate it when people come in and ask "are these snowboarding gloves" or "is this snowboard wax" or "are these skiing hats" im like its all the same. does anyone else notice this? like theres a difference in the things you buy?
 
Yeah I see that, when I"m walking around without my ski boots on everyoen things I snowboard. But the funniest customer thing is when it's realy cold/windy/snowy outside and some gaper rolls into the mountain shop and goes straight to the goggle desk and says, "How much are your cheapest pair of goggles?" I think it's hilarious when they do that. This one dad came in with this son and practically demanded their cheapest pair, "WHERE ARE YOUR CHEAPEST GOGGLES?" then the clerk asked what color he wanted cause they carried that goggle in dif colors and then the dad just said, "I DON'T CARE WHAT COLOR THEY ARE MY KID CAN PICK THAT OUT, JUST SHOW HIM THE CHEAPEST PAIR."
 
i work at a ski store too and people ask that...the thing that gets me is there we dont even sell snowboards...and they still ask....are these snoboard pants ect...i find it is mostly midlle aged woman tho
 
haha yeah middle aged women trying to be cool and they dont want to disappoint their children by buying something that isnt cool
 
my personal favourite - people who come in and ask if we rent "parabolic skis". ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING.

Then people come in, put themselves down as a type 3 skier, then want to rent the regular cheap skis. you ask them what length they normally ski "i dont know"

Well what length skis have you skied this season - "i havnt skied in 9 years"

oh but it says your a type 3, expert and aggressive skier. "thats right"

Did you used to race "no, but i went skiing a few times when i was growing up"

and youre an expert and aggressive skier? "yes".

im 5'8", 165, so normally im a pacifist by necessity, but every customer i get like that just makes me want to stab them with the phillips head under the tec bench.
 
or you get a customer who knows nothing about what they need or what they've skied on, but insist that they're an expert because they have a helmet.
 
and yet will never back down.

also love having to ask the chubby 14 year old girl with no self esteem how much she weighs.

hey, if you dnt wana tell me youre weight, i cant fit you into a real nice snowboard.
 
my personal favourite is the "i'm a super aggressive skier and need a ski that cna keep up with me...but i want to spend less than 300 dollars on a ski."
 
my mum who doesnt ski, is always like that. if she takes me shopping for gear she's always asking whether its snowboarding or skiing gear.

its so fucking embarrassing. thats why i havent let her buy me anything for 3 years now hahaha
 
here's a good one, a tele guy told me he was an expert tele skier, and asked me what i reccomended, so i told him about some skis than he insisted that i show him something under 150 dollars..

than another kid came in and told us he was sponsored by armada, and then asked us if he could get the jp vs. juliens at cost because his old ones broke...

or when your fitting boots and they want a high end boot, but wont spend more than 150 dollars

teaching small children how to swim was one of the most depressing jobs by the end of the summer...kinda just wanted to dunk them a few times
 
employees can be just as bad. at the shop i go to they insist on selling me a 162 even though ive been skiing a 176 all season just fine, and then set the din to 6 or some shit and refuse to put it higher
 
they use a industry required din setting...i have the same thing happen, i'm a type 3 plus, 5'10" and 143 lbs, and i only get to 6.5, if you read the shop work to, they're not aloud to...that kinda makes you the dumb one...sorry, and for sizing how tall are you, there may be a reason they reccomend it, sometimes the skis surface area, will affect the size the reccomend, they tell us to do the same, like atomics, you can sell supershort because of how they make there skis, although i do tell people to go w/ a different length becuase of what they want to do, it just depends where you work, and what the teach you, as well as what the reps tell you at there clinics
 
Yeah there are definitely lots of retarded questions that get asked. I also hate dealing with moody/stupid people that are trying to bargain with me so that I can give them a better deal. I've also had totally sexist customers, i'll ask them if they need help and they'll say "oh, is there a salesMAN i can talk to?". In my head i'm just like "fuck you." Gah. But all in all, working in a ski shop is definitely one of the better jobs out there for sure.
 
um well bout the din statement, i got sum skis mounted today, and he made me sign saying that he recommended a din of 7 but he put them on 11 for me, so they can do it but u have to sign a realease saying that u woudltn listen to wat he says and mount the fucking thing
 
i suppose some shops can do that, all the shops i've been to in colorado wont except for one, which hardly mounts any bindings at all
 
maybe it is differnt in canada then in the states...cuz at my shop we cant put the din higher...but i mean if you want it higher...dont be lazy pull out a screw driver and do it yourself

exactly what I was thinking. Takes about 5 minutes.

my last dumbass customer that was a type III skier demanded 210cm length skis. I had to explain to him that no one rents skis like that anymore. He also brought in boots that had to be something like 4 sizes too big or worse.
 
less than that...another stupid thing was this kid pulled a screwdriver out at our store, and start setting the dins w/ out a boot inside his binding
 
they cant legaly set the din seting higher then what the chart says, my din setting on the chart is 6 but i crank it up to 10 or ells i cant hit big jumps or butter without them popping off to much.
 
i had a lady in our shop today who wouldnt get the only boot that fit her foot becasue it was white. she was like doesnt everyone ask for matching boots. she was like can i get these ones in black. then she got pissed becuase her new skis were not the same color blue as her coat. i was just waiting for her to get the fuck out of the store
 
sounds liek my brother. he has never had any patience for stupidity and after being a camp counselor it only got worse. whenever a kid mis behaved they sent him to my brother's group. "if you dont stop that shit im gonna send you to menke's group, do you really want that, huh huh do you?!" hahahhaa
 
hahahaa that made me laugh soo hard!!

thats the kind of shit my mom worries about. i just bought some new pants and the first thing she said was how they matched my jacket. i looked at her and then at my suit nodding. since i was in a good mood and i had'nt seen my mom for a few days cause of skiing i just asked her how she was.
 
um...please tell me this one is a joke. i might just have to go on a killing spree next time i'm at the mountain
 
Customer: I bought a helmet from your store last week and it broke.

ME: That sucks how did it break?

Customer: My son dropped it and the buckle shattered.

ME: What kind of helmet is it we can order a replacement for you.

Customer: It's a hockey helmet.

ME: We dont sell hockey helmets, you must of bought it at Just Hockey around the corner.

Customer: No, I bought it here!

ME: No you didn't. we dont sell hockey helmets, we're a ski shop.

Customer: I bought it at this store a week ago, Heres the receipt.

ME: this is a recipt for Just Hockey.

Customer: OH! Can you fix the helmet anyways?

ME: No

Customer: why?
 
I hate it when you are on the lift and some gaper will be like o you have those Twin Tip skis can you grind those rails or can only snowboarders.
 
i lost all hope for humanity in a bikeshop when this fat heap of shit 12 yearold pointed to an $8000 dh bike (specialized demo 9) and literally said "mummy i want that one" and his walking plastic surgery advertisment mid life crisis mum just whips out the credit card & they walk out with it.

i worked in a ski/golf store for almost a year, and just couldnt handle the stupidity any longer.

i swear the more i worked the more retarded i got, and i look at some of the ppl who still work there and it seriously proves my theory correct.
