hike the grouse grind or take the tram to the top (but hiking it is so much more satisfying)
bike or walk the stanley park seawall, check out english bay (fireworks on saturday)
kits beach is my favourite beach of them all but if its sunny it will probably be pretty crowded

Go shopping on Commercial or Main St (if you're on Main I highly recommend getting a burger at Splitz). Visit the aquarium and granville island.
Check out what's going on with the Harmony Arts Festival. I know most of it was last weekend but I think there are free outdoor concerts every night and all day this weekend (tomorrow night is a latin-funk band called Tanga) as well as outdoor movies and some food/wine stuff.

The entry point to the river is right at the top and you will see a bunch of kids hoping the fence with towels and backpacks so you can pretty much just follow them like ants to the different jump and chill out places.
Kinda hard to get there if you don't have access to a car though

Only was there for a few hours. Great place want to go back. Doubt it will be the same without the riots mind you. The train to/from Seattle is nice.
