Studying at esdes in Lyon, recommended ski areas?

I will be flying into Lyon on the 3rd of January and i would love to get some information regarding the best spots to ski and any other information you guys might be able to provide to me regarding skiing in the area. I will be attdening esdes school of business through an inter university exchange through my school ST.F.X, in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. I am an avid skiier and one of the primary reasons i chose to study in Lyon was so that i would be close to the alps. I am super stoked on skiing some steep terrain and love gladed skiing areas. I will be stayin in Lyon until June and plan on getting in as much mountain biking and skiing as possible while i am there. I have never been to Lyon before nor have i have ever skied in the Alps, so any advise you guys have would be greatly appreciated. If any of you live in the region perhaps we could meet up sometime while i am there, and shred for a day or two. Thanks for any input!!
 
Well first things first as you can tell i'm not French but i'm pretty sure ALL of the french resorts are at most 3hrs away, Lyon is a pretty prime spot as it is a cool city to be in, very cool.

And have fun, I'm pretty sure Lyon gets snow in winter too for periods so urban jibbing is a must.
....Let me know how you get on, we're going to be moving to France and Lyon is an option.
