Studying abroad

Im a freshman in college but the process to plan to study abroad starts pretty soon. From anyone who has done it would you recommend doing it? i would plan on studying in either germany or austria.
 
Do it! You will have an awesome time and totally new experiences. Im from England and studied at MSU in montana this year and it was wicked
 
I have never met anyone who didn't like studying abroad. Just make sure you know exactly what you need to do to receive all the necessary credits and/or if you will need to take extra credits during the summer or semesters leading up to your study abroad trip so you don't end up falling behind. I know a few people who basically used their study abroad semester as a free pass to party in another part of the world, only to come back and realize they didn't get any work done and had to spend an extra semester finishing up when we all graduated.
 
Im in the same boat as you op. When i talked to my advisor she just said find out which mandatory credits you can get abroad and skip those when youre choosing classes for semesters before the one abroad. Most people here do it junior year
 
I'm still in highschool but I'm planning to study abroad soon too. My brother spent his senior year in Norway and he said it was amazing. Do it!
 
I didn't even read anything that anyone had to say and I can tell you that without a doubt you should do it
 
Absolutely do it. Study abroad was one of the greatest things I've done.

My two recommendations are:

Go foreign all the way. Don't go to Austria just to hang out with other American students. I went alone, took a little bit to make friends, but got so much more out of the experience.

And don't be the study abroad kid who visited 75 different cities in 40 different countries, then came home and barely knew anything about any of them because you spent 6 hours in each country.

I went to London. I made friends with londoners, and got to know the city almost as well as my home city. I think its better to know everything about where you're living than to know nothing about the 200 cities you visited.
 
Never done it myself. I know a few people who have done it though, one of them never came back lol. If you can handle the homesick part im sure it would be a great life changing experience
 
Wanting to go to Germany in the spring of next year going to start trying to apply after I finish exams.

Slightly worried though because I don't speak German, has any gone to country where they didn't speak the langue? (Class can be taken in English)

Germany From what I've heard if classes are in english you don't need to know too much of the local language.

Only old people and Turkish people don't speak english in Germany

Perfect, that's what I've heard but nice to hear from more people. I am absolutely shit at languages so if a country required me to know their language past a basic level I would have to rule it out.
