Studying abroad... s. africa and ireland

fuck south africa

Ireland is SICK, but keep in mind that I actually PREFER cloudy rainy weather than sun.

Galway is where my people are from and its pretty cool, the town is pretty small, and like much of the UK closes down to early

Dublin is a bustling city with plenty to do at all hours of the night especially Temple Bar, a pedestrian only Pub, Restaurant and Nightclub district (the Nepalese joint is SOO good, i cant remember the name though)

If your in ireland you cant go kick it for a week end or so in:

London

Cambridge

Amsterdam

Haarlam

Brussel

Paris

or hundreds of other places all better then 95% of North America

South africa is...in africa, other than a very small part of south africa they are SO differant that i dont even know how you came to these two

I hear S africa is beautiful, and very civilized so I imagine it'd be like a city.

Well it'll be part of my Poli-sci/ International Affairs major, so I picked Ireland because I'm Irish and I really want to go there and I picked South Africa because their political history is nuts and I figured I'd learn a lot about a different kind of politics and history.

i was studyin abroad and either way it will be just wicked.

even though it might be not what u expected

The beer in Ireland is phenomenal...and thats about it.

The cars suck, the women are BEAT, and its spits rain all fucking day.

Oh yea, i forgot. The food is as bad as the women. Visit for a week or so, thats all you'll need to get the idea.

the food is not that bad

i had great food in little ass towns

people think that the irish still eat salted cabbage and potatos exclusivly

the Guiness is better, the N. American is made W/Nigerian Water.

Dude there is a difference in the Guinness from Ireland to England. The only place you can get a propper pint of that black gold is on the Green Isle. I cannot express to those of you who have not had the proper stuff from a tap in Ireland....it is glorious.

That said, the cuisine of the Irish is heavy, simple, and boring. I had to fly to Paris every so often just to get a quality meal.

The women are hideous, im sorry...they just are.

The people there are riding the end of the Celtic Tiger, and econmic boom driven largley by US and UK investors that have since packed their bags for the greener (haha, pun) pastures of China and India. Ireland is still awash in newfound capital...to put it in context Ireland was 3rd World not less than a decade ago...and have developed a high level of apathy as the result of dense (but typically Euro) saftey nets.

Look its just a giant drinking sesh and if you're down for that kind of thing for months on end then its fucking mecca. If however you're looking for stunning women, beautiful beaches, and a stellar city (Cape Town) then get your ass down to South Africa pronto. I hear that place is off the chain.

I would take South Africa over Ireland anyday. First of all South Africa isn't anything like any other african nation. It is predominantly white due to it being settled by the English. It is one of the most beautiful countries in the world if sightseeing and anything of that nature is in your interest, aka Table Mountain, Cape Point (Most Southern Point of Africa), Safari opportunities in multiple locations, Seal Island (You can watch massive Great White Sharks slay seals while jumping high as shit), etc.

You can also see penguins, by the way penguins only live in the southern hemisphere. Penguins are sweeeet.

This girl I know went there for a winter vacation with her family and she said it is unbelievable. If you golf, South Africa has some of the worlds most amazing courses. There are multiple world famous beaches, and multiple cities with an awesome party scene (Cape Town, Johannesburg etc.)

Do your research, make the right decision.

In your context, head to South Africa. A small island with limited culture and history is not where I would ever spend a whole year, especially to study. South Africa will be a totally new experience, some dangers and violence to brave, but I'm sure an incredibly fulfilling experience. I'm considering Scandinavia in 2 years, as it is very close to eastern/central/even western Europe, and looks like it could be enjoyable.

This man knows what South Africa is.

Capetown is very cold though...so you have to go to the beach in summer there. Well winter here, summer there...gah I'm confused.

Beauty, thanks for all the remarks. I know South Africa (of the two) is really where I should go for an educational experience, but I figured I'd ask about Ireland too, being that I want to go there (most intelligently saved for a vacation though, probably). We'll see, I have plenty of time.
