Studying Abroad at University of Otago

I just got accepted by University of Otago to study abroad during semester 2.

I plan to ski a lot when I'm there. Should I decide to buy a season pass now or decide to buy one when I get there?

What season pass options do I have?

Thanks

Buying a season pass is definitly the best idea.

Options are skiing in Queenstown or Wanaka, most people choose wanaka, its the more chilled ski town and is less touristy.

In wanaka your options are Snowpark, which is just park (as in just park, one chair lift, has a good vibe though), Cardrona, a good all round feild, has pretty good park and some good offpiste, and treble cone which has great steeps and off piste but no park. So depends what your after, lots of people at Otago go for Cardrona, heres the links for them all though

also join the otago university freestyle sports club when you get there (they have an fb page also) then you'll be in the loop for parties, rides to and accomodation in wanaka.

Shes's got it covered.

Should be easy to get a rides up to Wanaka, I wouldn't bother with Queenstown this year, the passes are expensive and the park at remarks isn't that great. Cardrona is a good choice (aside from school holidays when it's insanely busy)

Yo man im also gonna be studying at U of Otago this upcoming semester and am trying to do a good amount of skiing. I was hoping to get some friends to go in on a cheap ass car with me so we can get to wanaka or queenstown on the weekends and hopefully do a sweet trip for our mid semester break. Its gonna be sick.

Do this. I was at otago last summer and skied a ton but you pretty much need a car. Also get a cardies pass and then you can go to snowpark for cheap at night with a student discount and cardies pass discount.
