Student Loans

Yo fools, how many of you punks have student loans? How does the system work in your country of origin and how much would you end up owing after you did a full degree at univeristy or college or whatever. And what kind of interest rate do they charge you?

I'm probably going to have about a NZ$35,000 loan when I finish (US$16,000). I get my course fees paid for which are about NZ$5-6,000 per year and then a=NZ$1,000 for books and then NZ$150 a week for rent and food and stuff. That's all over 4 years for a bachelor of commerce in Dunedin. I don't get charged interest while studying but they charge like freakin' 20% after you've been working for a year. Facsists.

I get about 22g's in grants (stuff I don't have to pay back), and then I have another 9 g's in straight loans. I have to start paying them back some period of time after I graduate, or am no longer a full time student. My loans will be more this year... so all in all I'm gonna owe about6 60 grand after school... (all expenses my school is 40g's a year). That's what you get for going to a top 20 school (17th)

I work. I get lots of time to ski, make good money, and get to buy all sorts of shit! All I owe is money to the bank for my car which I'm not too concerned at paying right now! And I went to one of the top 1000 colleges in Ontario for 1 semester of journalism! Woo hoo!

I was helicoptered off the hill yesterday and had to spend the night in hospital. A boarder skied through some slow signs and straight into my back and they found a spinal fracture. Luckily it turned out to be old

phew'- BAWB, not worried about an old spinal fracture, just a new one.....

haha, nice nice.

Ontario's Student Loan programs suck...I think they do it by random draw I think not by who needs it most. The max a year you can get is $9500.00...although it seems as tho only rich kids ever get that much...

OSAP is pretty good, Nova Scotia loan system sucks. Terribly. As I stated earlier today, I cannot get a student loan. This is not a good system, I need one very very badly. I am paying my entire way through school. This means, I have have to get a normal 'education loan' from the bank. Basically, this is a loan with a higher than normal interest, with a cap of 5,000 per year with a max of 15,000. They do this because students have nothing of worth to reposses if they cannot pay. I found out today that my scholarships and bursaries may be gone for some strange fucked up unknown to me reason, leaving me with a $5000 debt, and nothing at all to show for it.
