Student Discount Thread

So I was recently browsing around and saw that B&H offers a type of student discount program on their site. I'm a high school student though so It looks like it won't work for me.

I might try and e-mail them and find out if I can still apply for this program, just to see.

I'm just wondering if anyone else knows any other sites/companies that offer student discounts on photo gear. I don't think Nikon does, but maybe Canon? (Might consider switching?) haha. I haven't looked yet.

I wish the student discount program would work for high school students, but we'll see what they say.

Here's the link and a description of what B&H offers. Post up some more if you know them! I'm desperate here! haha.

Hopefully some people who haven't seen this out there can benefit from it.

Well, I'm going to go to a photography school for college as soon as I finish high school. So I have to wait until I'm in college to purchase any gear what so ever?

I just wondered if there was anywhere that offered a slight discount to high school students. Or maybe I'm just not like other high school kids, as I'm struggling to be able to afford daily expenses and would like to continue to pursue photography, but am just simply having a hard time affording it. For example Apple offers a Student Discount to any students grades K-12 and University/College level. I use my camera almost as much as I use my computer, so why should there be no reason for me to get a very minimal discount on photo gear? Explain it to me please?

I say "going to go" but really I mean "planning to go" as I plan on applying to as many schools as I can and giving it everything I've got to go to school for photography, because it's really my passion, and my dream.

Just thought I should add that.

Where do you plan on going to school for photography? Chances are the college it's self will be able to get you the best deals on cameras

College students are normally more suited for discounts because either their majors require them to get certain products, or because it's the time during their life they have to commit to a major which in many cases is also committing to a job in the future and companies want to get students involved with their product that way they essentially be "committed" to their product seeing as they learned to live by it through their studies and into the workplace. It doesn't benefit as much to give discounts to high school students because although you may love their product, you may switch or lose interest in their product all together as you get into college.

Sorry to post so much, I just have one last piece of advice. The college you're interested in may be bias toward certain cameras or gear (such as some are bias toward Mac vs. pc) so its a good idea to see whih you're college of interest is more friendly towards before hopping on deals.
