Strapping boots

how do you strap YOUR boots?

I ski in hot doggers, I strap the power strap under the tongue usually, and then clip from top to bottom. still get shin splints sometimes from back seat landings but it's unavoidable

No man, I know many people who use the power strap this way, and I works just fine for them.

Just out of curiosity, do you own booster straps? As strapping under the tongue, It will create a tighter "seal" between the liner and the back portion of the boot, which may be more effective than trying to even out the pressure along the tongue. Personally I Keep my booster straps on the outside of the boot, but i could understand the over point of view with the strap snug against the liner.

I'm assuming he means that he's tightening the velcro power strap under the plastic tongue but over the power wrap liner. I do this as well because my if I do up the power strap on top of the plastic tongue I get shin bang because of my skinny legs. After I do the power strap I do the middle cable to keep my heel locked down then do the top and bottom loosely and tighten them again starting from the middle, top then bottom.

Well than what i have isnt shinbang but something else, pain in the lower right side of my calf. Just tried it on my Konflicts and it definitely sucked the liner in alot closer to my shin. I'm going skiing thursday so ill fill you all in after that

Its only on my right boot though...and its not from landing backseat i get this pain even when im not skiing and just leaning forward in the boot

Sort of, I use to more to wrap the liner around my leg tighter so there isn't a gap between my shin and the liner. This way the liner is nice and tight around my shin and thus not leaving any room for my shin to bang against the liner and/or tongue.

Well you can get shin splints many places. Your lower leg consists of two bones, the shinbone (donno what it's called. I'm from Denmark :D ) and the other one which to the right/back. I had shinsplints in the right/back one and even though it comes more easily from leaning backwards there's alot of other factors.

The way your boots fit and the way you tighten them up definitely matter alot. But landing bad a few times (not even backwards) or just skiing alot can cause it aswell. Shinbang simply comes from straining you legs too hard. And you can minimize the chance you will get it by working out your leg muscles (and thereby strengtening your bones and ligaments aswell).

Lindsay Vonn had shine splints before the Olympics in 2010 i remember. And I dare to say that it doesn't come from leaning too much backwards :D

Another thing. If first you have shinsplints I doubt you can get rid of it that fast. It's an injury, not just some pain. You can stop it getting worse (rest after skiing, ice, different oils, warmth etc) but until it gets recovery time it will keep annoying you. Atleast thats my experience.

Went a little off topic, but I thought you needed to know. Go look up shinsplints / shinbang. There's a ton of threads.

erm, no?

everybody and their mother rides full tilt boots. no point in claiming something like that.

sometimes I wonder if I should be strapping the middle strap harder to keep my ankle in the heel cup better

you made me feel like the asian guy in the trident commercial for not having FT's :(

but strapping the middle strap tighter sounds like a valid thought
