I totally agree with. One of my suite mates is straight edge and he's awesome. he'll still go out with us to parties and maybe have an occasional beer. But he doesn't look down on us. helped out when one of the other guys had to go to the hospital with a bac of .4(near death). my personal roomate on the other hand is straight edge and bitch about it. He obviously looks down on us cause we drink or smoke. as far as i'm concerned, do what you want and don't hate on anything unless you've been there.
 
That's a terrible generalization. There are plenty of these "emo" kids that smoke and drink, and there are plenty of other subcultures that have people who are straightedge. Don't be so judgemental.

And to the post that is 2 below the one i quoted... i think straight edge people are some of the only ones who get shit for repping what they are. Nobody would get bashed for wearing an "I am a skier" shirt, plenty of people wear clothes or have tattoos that promote weed or drinking... it's the same thing is saying "I smoke weed" or "I drink," just in a different manner. I actually really respect people who are straightedge, like one of my best friends, because they actually have something to live by that they believe in and hold on to legitimately, which is something that a lot of other people unfortunately can't say that they have. I'm certainly not straightedge... I smoke bud like it's my job and i also like to party, but I don't see what's wrong with repping something you believe in.
 
hey man neither do i as i said one of my best friends is straight edge and i'm perfectly cool with that. I think everyone should stand up for what they believe in but i think that if you're straight edge you should not just look down upon someone that smokes or parties just because thats what they do. If you don't want to party for any reason, don't; i won't force you and i'll stand by your decision. just don't give shit becuase someone does is all i'm asking from people.
