it seems like basically everyone on here always talks about partying and stuff and im just wondering if theres anyone whos sraight edge. i recently got caught at a party smoking and drinking and ive decided to stop. i dont have any problem with people who do party cuz i know its way fun. 
 
umm, i try to have good morals. i dont smoke or do drugs, and ive quit drinking for winter, cause im on an NCAA ski team and im underage, and i'll be effed if i get caught. plus i dont find being drunk all that enjyable. i do enjoy drinking an occasional beer, or a glass of homemade wine though. and i dont really have a problem with people who do stuff, unless they cant own up to what they did when they were gone.
 
why do people need to label themselves 'straight edge'? if you don't drink, thats cool.. no one has a problem with that, lots of people don't drink. But it seems to me that labelling yourself is conforming to some kind of ideal or something. is it cool to be straight edge or something? you never used to hear of people calling themselves straight edge. Why not be a bit more individual and not bother labelling yourself. Im not saying its bad to not drink, just that its kinda lame labelling yourself

I drink often, seeing how I'm in college that is a given. As for smoking, right now I don't do it much because it costs alot. But since ski season is coming that may change.

I admire straight edge kids as long as they dont look down on other people. drugs and alcohol are a vice in my opinion, they prevent me from getting shit done, make me behave foolishly (well, alcohol does) and waste money. truthfully I believe drugs and alcohol are a whole lot like masturbation.

thank you. i am not edge but it pisses me off when people rip on straight edge kids. its as lame as edge kids beating up drunk kids in the pit
 
I don't drink or smoke. that's not to say I'm against others doing it, I've got plenty of friends who do. I wouldn't necessarily be unwilling to try, I just haven't. I do think some people go overboard getting drunk way too often but that's a whole other thing.
 
I drink. I enjoy it, I get shitfaced once in a while.

Other than that, I don't smoke, I drive at the speed limit, always signal when I'm making a turn. . .

But okay, there are many definitions of "straight edge". I prefer to think of it as living in a way that respects yourself and the people around you, and not defined by the drinking / smoking / drugs thing.

And I try not to judge people on it as well. I've met plenty of 'straight edge' folks who are total dicks, and folks who indulge in the herb and the booze who are the most considerate, principled people.

 
I am a long long way from straight edge. I drink extremely excessively, smoke too much and do drugs far more than i should. But that said, I have lots of sXe friends and listen to lots of hardcore sXe music.

Its kind of funny because we have very different life choices/preferences, but still have lots in common and are good mates.

I think so long as you dont define yourself by drinking/smoking/whatever, then it shouldnt mean shit what you make.
 
I like to consider myself straight edge, but I like drinking. I have good morals, I help out people and the community. I never smoke or take drugs.

 
same, i use to smoke a lot, but not so much anymore. but yea it will definitely change once i start skiing
 
i know colby west doesn't drink, not sure aboutt smoking but maybe hes edge and hes a damn good skier. so maybe it helps.
 
i drink quite often yet i havent been drunk since this spring, i like to think that makes me a responsible drinker

theres really no need to declare "straight edge" , you do drugs or you dont do drugs whats the big deal, i think its funny how the term staright edge is part of "the scene"
 
well, you have "stoners", "druggies", "drunks", so what are we supposed to call the people who don't do anything? i think "straight edge" is pretty fitting.
 
i hav found that many skiers are straight edge. i am certainly far from it, but it is also popular to just stop in the winter. I am gonna try to cut back cause im moving to breck, but its gonna be almost impossible so i'll prob only get wasted once a week.

yea, i havent gotten drunk in like, 3 or 4 months. i dunno, back in high school i was more or less an alcoholic, drinking everyday. since then i just did it less and less. now i just smoke weed instead.
 
I have friends that don't drink or smoke and i respect that. sometimes when I'm around them i don't do either, but sometimes I still drink, but they are fine with it
 
are you that fucking ignorant? first off straight edge was and never will be emo or any of that scene shit, "straight edge" the term was coined by Minor threat a fucking awesome 80's hardcore band. 3rd if you said that shit around here you would most likely be found in a dumpster dead somewhere. im not even edge but alot of my friends are and i have respect for their commitment. you do not say that shit around here. and also your not sort of straight edge you fucking retards if you only drink and smoke once in a while, straight edge is a commitment of not smoking not drinking no drugs and no promiscuos sex. so maybe before you open your fucking mouth and talk shit about people you dont know anything about maybe you should say to yourself hmmm maybe i should check this out?
 
The only people who talked shit about straight edge was Schultz other than that everyone else was chill regarding the topic, so what if your not 100% straight edge and as the thread creator said he only used it so that people would know what hes talking about. Calm down if your all straight edge then you shouldn't be getting so angry about this.

why would you even want to label yourself straight-edge or be a dick to people who drink or smoke bud....who gives a shit what i do or want to do and what it does to my body...its not anyone else's business ..especially someone who will make a big deal over small shit
 
yeah, i mean everyone is probably gonna drink a few times in their life, i just hate the people that go around boasting that they are straight edge

It was never supposed to be a militant thing, and it's a shame the way people see straight edge. And the way I see it, if you have a title for the people that do drugs, what are you gonna call the people that don't? As for myself, I don't necessarily claim edge, I do love Minor Threat, I've never had more than a sip of alcohol, and while I've been sufficiently blazed plenty of times before, I don't really plan on doing it again anytime in the near future, although nobody really knows how that will turn out.
 
i don't smoke or drink, never have, just doesn't appeal to me. i don't go and preach to people who do though, i just choose not to. i just ask that when my friends are drunk they don't try to contact me because when they do, they're fucking annoying.

i'm not a party guy, i don't even like hanging out in large groups of my closest friends. i just like small chillin's.
