Yo! Back home for a week, does anyone know if Stowe has any jumps or jibs up yet this year? I didn't find any info on their website or instagram.

Cheers

still lookin real meager. got some small rails and two small jumps. park crew is severely understaffed along with other departments i.e. snowmaking.

just joined up on the stowe park crew and gotta update the status here. standard park is up and running and it's dope! kurt killed it with the jumps. here is the setup

10 ft setup jump

25 ft main jump (long steep landing... could take it maybe 40)

1st rail section (3 options): 35 foot swoop/whale tail rail, 25 ft fat flat tube, 10 foot down box

2nd rail section (2 options): 15 ft rainbow box, 25 foot elbow kink rail

3rd rail section (2 options): 15 ft trapezoid box, 25 foot s rail

next: mushroom tap feature

4th rail section (2 options): 30 foot dfd box, 20 ft down tube rail

now, most all of the boxes are coming out some time after the USASA competition this sunday (feb 3rd). after this next rebuild standard should be a true, proper technical medium park with some larger and quite technical rail features. ill get some pic when i get back to work on wednesday. for the time being if you have an opportunity to ride it before the rain on monday, i would recommend it.

tyro is also getting a rebuild next week. also thinking about getting some rails in 5th avenue again. come say whattup if you see park crew around

You wont find anything on they're sure or Instagram because of the Vail buyout. It seems like they want tgat upscale crowd and doing anything park related is a waste to them. There was less features and fewer parks last year. That being said I think that did allow for the park crew to focus in on their 2 parks and keep them pretty dialed all year.

Also, they had injury issues in the past so park crew isnt allowed to spin at all when on the clock so I can imagine that no park rat is signing up for that. That means some jerry with minimal knowledge and experience is shaping the lips and that they will be under staffed and have complacent employees by mid december.

kurt is still park manager and i know at least two of the crew members are experienced park riders, so im sure the lips will at least be up to par with the past. they definitely do what they can.

that said, the vail aspect of it has fundamentally changed things so i wouldn't expect to see any longer park runs or dynamic setup changes. theyre good dudes and work as hard as they can but vail's strategic position for the parks at stowe is to de-emphasize them so as not to distract from their primary customer base. they want the parks to be/look just good enough that the children of vacationing families can ski through and have fun, but not good enough that theyre attracting park riders as a whole. its a shame and is why im not returning to work there this winter. ill be skiing there sometimes though ;)

The only way Stowe parks will be worth going to again is if they put it back on North Slope. Tyro was a joke last year, and nobody wants to go down Standard and end up at the triple. The jumps were nice and there were some good rails, but it was a huge bummer.

Made that mistake once, back at Bush where I belong.

The rise and fall.

haha, yeah :(

I was skiing at the end of december the day they opened up a new little park, on north slope I think it was?

A lot more fun than the few rails below the bottom of the triple chair. I thanked one of the park crew staff (skier), super nice guy who was also happy to have something new open.
