STOWE OFFICIAL 11/12

Well, funny you mention snowmaking, after this rain (yet again) we're gunning our way down Nosedive and making plans to get going on N Slope.

what side of north slope are you guys making the park?

I vote for skiers left. last year was more cramped than past years and on windy days speed was an issue.

today was good until about 1:30 i thought

plus they were blowin on tyro, i bet they want to open that, then build north slope then come back and build tyro

I agree with Matt. Also, I'm probably going to bring up my new camera tomorrow to film so if anyone wants in, feel free

Park update:

5th Ave will be closed tomorrow Wed 4th for the day to get rebuilt, I't's pretty firm and N Slope park build is coming very soon, so I need to free up thoes features for N Slope and a USASA rail jam setup for the 13th. Thanks and stay tuned, jumps a comin...

took a few cautious runs in some woods the last couple days. Pretty sketchy in alot of areas, especially down low. But also had some great turns, especially today and emerged with a huge smile and no ski or people damage. Still only 24 to 30 depth but getting there.

just got into burlington tonight. might be up sunday if I can swing it, I really want to ski before school starts monday.

So N Slope has moved up and is the main focus of snowmaking from now till the park is built. Me and my side kick will be rocking both of our park cats building all next week to get the park up.

great to hear but is there anyway more features can be setup in the other parks...theres so much open space and potential for a bunch of rails...having 4 features open hardly counts as a park

5th ave has 5, and that littlte one is 2 boxes and like 4-5 rollers. what you looking to add to 5th ave? not sure and more could be squeezed in, little park I'd say yes. sounds like we'll have n slope soon tho.

but its 12! don't forget the 5 rollers in midway that they count as individual freestyle features... ha

but i agree, before this setup change the setup was exactly the same for 3-4 weeks; i'd like to see a little more variety and (i hesitate to say) awareness and eagerness on the part of the park guys. i just look at all the other mountains around here and further south and see setup changes weekly, if not more often. i'm sure stowe has somewhat of a clampdown on what goes on in and around the park, but it seems like a lot more could be done to improve what little park we have.

that being said, the new setup on 5th ave is pretty nice; the closeout is stupid, and the plastic tubing should be taken out of the spine, but everything else is pretty fun. the rainbow is real prime right now. overall the crew did a great job setting it up.

and to be clear, i know kurt and the park guys dont have all that much control over where stowe wants to blow snow. i guess my thinking is just that if we can't have a real park for this long, the park crew should be stoked to make whatever park we have super fun and interesting.

i guess im just sad that there's no snow in the woods

They only have one rail park setup as of now. They're blowing snow hard at the park, but I'm pretty sure there won't be anything on it by next weekend. The rail park has a trap box, rainbow rail, pointless closeout rail, dfd rail, and qp at the end.

sounds pretty good... what about the rest of the mountain? is there enough snow for treeskiing of any sort?

I'm pretty sure you're in luck. North Slope (in my opinion) will be done by Saturday. I was there all day today and Kurt and Rory were doing work. Pretty amazing how much they can get done with two cats. Obviously I can't promise anything, but I would put money on having a 3 jump line and a bunch of rails on North Slope by this weekend.

Oh and tree skiing is kinda iffy right now. You can do it, and I've heard rumors of some really nice turns in undisclosed locations, but I personally will be waiting for more snow

Yup shooting for a sat opening with n slope... Still need some snow but making it all the time when we can... Sorry, I bumped the closeout and had to pull it but made a little jump just for now, good news is it fixable.

Can someone point me in the right direction for dropping some good cliffs and skiing good glades at Stowe? Never been there, looking to get the insider knowledge before I go. Thanks

to find spaces in between the trees one must wander. Come on storm, open some woods and help the park crew

yea I know, maybe I'm just being a little pansy about it. The problem I have with it it's just a flat rail, so it's boring unless you're trying something above your stock trick, but I don't want to try anything more difficult on it with that closeout there. Damn, I sound like a little bitch.

kind of a huge long shot, but if anyone finds one black ski in the woods kinda of near nosedive, I would appreciate it if you PM me

photo from today. Still some freshies in the woods

DEEEEP in some places up high. Had a 50" pole and couldn't touch bottom in a lot of spots out in the notch. Love magic snow
