STOWE 10/11

yeah im definitely disappointed with late season stowe. definitely not as much fun as the beginning of the year

how is the park looking right now? i am thinking about day tripping it up, and im debating between here and killy...

stough has been skiing pretty good for april, still a lot of snow, up high there is still a pack of 6-9'

im so sunburned but it was totally worth it. thanks stowe for a kick ass weekend of skiing!

and whens the official OFFICIAL closing date? Ive heard different dates.

Here's the deal, there are a few contributing factors

1) the weather is now mostly warm and a snowcat can't climb the landings and will slide down the landings leaving a very crappy feature with messed up landings.

2) with the rain we've been having and lack of grooming because of that the parks are melting faster than we can put them back together

3) winding down at the end of the season and with the weather what it is we are down to 1 grooming shift from midnight to 8am now cutting our time from 15hr a nite to 8 hrs a nite, that's not enough time to groom all the parks well, so we pick 5th Ave an N Slope till the end.

As much as I want to give you guys everything I can, the reality is we can't take care of everything equally so some parks had to go. Tyro was taken down 2 weeks before we closed last season. We will cut the pipe tonite for what may be the last fresh cut pipe for the season, looks like rain Sat-Sun, but the features below the pipe will be removed due to melt out.

I do want to thank everyone for a good season, hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Join us for the Last Trick Rail Jam on May 28th, gunna be a fun time!!!!!!

yahhhh its def. understandable. Is there going to be a big feature built on north slope again this year? May 28th seems like a long way off :/

Stoked for Memorial Day Jam, I have been waiting 2 years to go to it, couldn't last year because I was fresh out of knee surgery.

Thanks Kurt! Killer year for Stowe parks.
Will you and Tony please do a collab. His rail skills, your jump skills, no that would be FIYAH! (Not to say you don't do a great job with stowe's rails, just saying that would be an unbelievable duo)....and do it on Gondolier, top to bottom.

starting with the j-rail on top of waterfall. then connect every rail stowe has into one enormous feature. and build a jump over the gondola. and then a jump so we can grind the over easy gondola.

maybe even get the bern gallery to donate a large bong as a tap feature. it couldn't be glass but maybe a nice hard acrylic that riders could both tap and blaze out of. also a pipe before the pipe always packed would be nice. really get that pipe to pipe going on.

x2. I heard that they need to do some blasting to put in the new lift and they only have a certain part of the season to do it because of some environmental issue regarding animals.

So the parks this year (I think) were by far better than ever before at stowe, especially the two main jump lines. The rails were set up well and there were more than ever. Besides the fact that more would be great, I know that isn't in Kurt or the Park Crew's ability to do. Here are my two main concerns that Kurt and his people can work to change next year:

1) LESS UP FEATURES. How is it that there were a total of 6 or more up features all year and only one flat rail that was tiny and gone most of the year? The first rail in tyro, the up rail in north slope and the guard rail box should've been set up flat. That one change would've made the rail set ups 10 times better in my opinion and many others.

2) More ollie on onto the down rail and dfd in north slope. down features really dont need a huge lip like the dfd had a lot of the time this year. speaks for itself, more tech, sicker, more trickable.

I thought the parks were sick and with these easy changes they can be a lot sicker. Anyone agree?

PS - I'm not trying to start a run of people hating or giving pointless criticism that Kurt cannot help with.

Thanks for another epic Season Kurt.
Looking forward to last trick.
@Krong's comments, you still hitting rails old man?

damn right i am i learned at least two new rail tricks in stowe's parks this year, 450 out and 270 onto a urban set up... I'll be sliding rails when I'm 50

haha word. The hike up is always a pain, but so so so worth it. I'm really stoked for this year, always a good time.
