Storing snow for summer

has anyone ever tried to store snow from winter to use in their summer setup? if so how well did it work and what did you use to make it last?

i pile it up and pack it down, then i cover it all with the turf that i use for my dry slope and that works superrrr well. then i throw a silver tarp over all of that to reflect the sun and keep it water proof...it doesnt melt. ive had a pile in my yard for 3 weeks of upper 60's and it hasnt shrunk yet
