i guess with the video the only thing i thought was weird was the jamaican flag. why would a jamaican flag be a video about skiers? i didnt know jamaica had mountains....since everyone is talking about racism, i was watching CNN and a black dude was talking about the "black community" and continously said "our people" in reference to the black community. people would be in trouble if they referred to white people as the "white community" and separated themselves from blacks. just thought i would throw that out there. peace

no its not! True racism is out of hate. Stereotyping is, well...stereotyping.
I have a Jewish friend who is really cheap.
I have like 20 asain friends who are really fucking smart.
I have a Philippino friend who is a horny savage and masturbates on everything in the room.
Every black girl at my school is so incredibly loud it drives me crazy.
Stereotyping is simply judging based on race, which isnt always bad. The above stated things aren't all negative, except maybe the stealing and the screaming. Its just who they are and they happen to be part of a TRUE stereotype. They have to come from somewhere, right?
Racism is an entirely different ballgame. Racism is true hatred towards an ethnicity just because they are different. This means if a totally cool person just happens to be part of a different race comes your way, you hate them just for being different. Racism is astinine and extremist. I know people who are racist may say "its not their ethnicity that I hate, its the behavior of that ethnicity that I hate."
Of course the best way to draw the line between racism and stereotyping is to know where certain conditions apply, like recognizing the fact that there is a small percentage of stereotypes that arent true. So to truly believe that a stereotype is 100% true is totally stupid. To believe that a stereotype is about 70% true makes more sense.
I have a black friend. When I want something of his, I'll go buy chicken and trade him for it. He also likes basketball, stealing bikes, and rap music; just like every single black person I have met does.
oh and when he pisses me off I'll call him a stupid nigger and he doesnt give a shit, because we both know we're messing around. Nobody cares, life goes on.
Often times the most prime examples of hate dont even have derogitory terms in it.
I know it sounds crazy; it goes against everything they teach you in school blah blah blah, but take a step back and look at life. Shit isn't that perfect and it never will be. If you haven't learned to live with it by now then I have no choice but to compare you with a fawn, knees buckled, about to get its ass eaten by a bear because it still hasnt learned to run yet.
I have not once in my life experianced TRUE racism and I doubt any of you have either.

The major mainstream artists are not getting rich off a colored fan base alone, far from it. Their massive appeal means they're hitting other demographics as well.
While i sympathize with black people finding the term demeaning and racist, which it is at the root of it all, predominant black culture is to blame for the acceptance of the word as everyday fodder for ALL ethnicities.
You're taking back the word, great, good on you, but you're also teaching the rest of the population that it's merely an expletive to color your language with, and the whole racist past to the word is absolutely voided.
Hence, i have only very little sympathy for people who are outraged by hearing the word spoken in a casual context. When it's spoken out of hate, or meaning to insult (see Kramer), then you have a case. When it's simply said, you can cry somewhere else.
