STOP POSTING MOVIE SEGMENTS ON YOUTUBE

Is this in reference to my posts? If so, I'm posting small clips (6 minutes or less usually) of old ski movies that are somewhat difficult to find. If its really that bad, I'll stop...

yo when rekker puts up movies there from like a while ago and there like two seconds. Its not like people don't buy ski movies. I spend $60 on ski movies per year plus buying lift tickets, park passes, gear, hotels, travel, etc. I have the right to support the industry by watching short clips of older movies on youtube.

You need to stfu noob

haha no he is actually completely right, stop being gay and actually support the industry, its not good just putting up movies when kids stop buyign them, thats the same thing as kids buying a ski, copyign it and giving them all out free, ski companies would die, so why dont you support the film part of the ski industry too

they put the whole movie of balance on freeskier so its basically the same as putting it on youtube just different sites

woah woah woah, please, for the good of NSers, do not stop posting your mad awesome vids. and if the ski movies really cared, they could just tell youtube to take it off the site. i dont see any complete movies on youtube and i personally spend serious cash $$ on movies every year.. well not a LOT, but a movie or two.

i absolutely agree. though i cannot be completely positive, im pretty sure youtube postings just shut down the best rollerblading film company out there. while i enjoy the vids as much as any one else, if it is going to lead to the top companies shutting down, i'd rather only see two really good full movies a year. and plus, you've got lots of amazing AM movies out there for free.

on a more serious note... i buy all the ski movies anyways so theres no need to go watch them on you tube... and for all who dont have 30 $ for a movie... then you should get a job. Then buy ski movies and stuff to support the ski industry.

yeah when theyre getting paid to do what they love(this goes for musical artists) and im a fan of them and would pay to see a comp or concert and then they bitch cuz i watched something of theres on utube or downloaded it they lick my gooch cuz i dont give a fuck

Will putting a couple segments really deter someone from buying a movie? No. The quality is terrible, the sound is terrible, you dont get bonus features and you cant just watch it on tv when youre not online. I just watched 3 segments from TBC. I want to buy that movie more than ever. Sometimes teasers are just teasers and it's good to get a good feel for the movie, and I like what I've seen so far, so I will try to buy tbc if I can find money. You exagerate when you say that people are putting halves of ski movies on youtube. The only thing close to that is rastafaride and thats a movie that's hard to find.

I really don't see why it's so bad to post a segment from a ski movie. It's when you get to posting whole movies that it's bad. But seriously, for anyone that has seen T heed's wicked segment, is there anyone that now that they have seen it, that will not buy Wicked? I'm def. going to try to get it if I can afford it.

People say I don't have $30 for a ski movie, and then people tell them to get a job. Now it's like you need $210 for ski movies because there are so many good movies to choose from(210=30x7. count them, Idea, level 1, plehouse, pbp, msp, rage, tgr). Out of those I would like to get 5 or 6(Ihate msp), but I can only afford 3. Sometimes its nice to see a segment or two of a ski movie you would not be able to buy anyway. I can't spend

$100 on ski movies every year. I have a job. I can barely afford to

go to school and ski, let alone buy ski movies. But I still support

the production companies I love. I will always buy level 1 and

plehouse, no matter what. I also love rage, but I can really only

afford to get 3 ski movies, so I will get Idea instead, because I think

it will be more important and better. Theres almost no way anyone can buy every ski movie each year, especially with am films too. People need to relax on this subject. Posting segments on youtube is ok so long as it is not historic.

spend your money on ski movies and download/sneak into big company movies in theaters

go end it. you suck more than pamela andresons vacuum. if you ski, you can easily afford a 30 dollar ski move. stop being a bitch and learn how to man up for shit

It's fine if some one puts up someone's segment. I'd still buy the movie even if it was youtubed in 7 sections or video googled in one. I like not having to watch shitty quality feed, also it's a better feeling just having the dvd/vhs instead of just a file on your computer.

I heard the skate film story too. The movies were gettin tons of hype, but no one felt the need to buy em. Technology deff has its draw backs. Especially underground artists, when most of us just rip songs. Its chill when old segs poke up, but when the entire TBC is on youtube a month after it came out........Meh i dunno. Its serving the same purpose as a premier I guess, but at some point you need to support what you love. Any person with even a shitty job could buy a movie in 5 hours work (if that). Is that really asking too much

I sometimes buy ski movies because of such YouTube segments. To me YouTube is kind of like the radio. It's nice because it's free and you can get a sense for what you like. And if a song/clip is great, I'll buy the the album/movie because the radio/YouTube is no substitute for the real thing. Just my $.02.

i liked Rowen's segs. I don't own most of those movies, and you can't buy them anymore. And honestly, even if you could buy them, not many people would. They're dated. But they're really cool to watch in few minute intervals.

i watched some of the candide you tube segments on youtube, i thought they were awesome and am now buying the film, with out you tube i wouldn't. so shut up. its good for everyone else and free advertising to some.

movies arent impossible to find. thats just a poor exuse for not wanting to pay for a ski movie. lots of film companies have back stock of their old movies on dvd's. check there web stores and you'll find them. and lots of time you wont have to pay more than 20. also if you look at sites like sierra trading post and others you'll lots of times find old movies for around 10 bucks on dvd.

This next quote isnt aimed at you but anyone who downloads/posts up movies on the web. Quit making excuses for not supporting the ski film companies that work so hard to put out a movie for you every season after another. Everyone puts in so much work and scrapes by for the love it so that they can do what they love and put out a movie for you year after a year. Sell some lemonade, mow a lawn, dont waste your money on things that are useless if ski movies cost to much. I'm sure you could find a way to pay for them if you wanted, if some of you(not everyone) didnt spend so much money on pot and alcohol.

i support the industry evry year but i think that having clip of old segments arent really going to hurt anyone

I agree with you that posting segments from new ski movies is a little wack. However, I also think it may be beneficial. Think of all the people that saw Tanner's segment from TBC on youtube and were amazed by what skiing has become over the years. Think of the exposure factor. I know I got into skiing by browsing websites and stumbling across some of the crazy videos of the Collins brothers going huge. So its kinda a double edge sword - kill the dispersal and maybe more money will go to film companies, or let them out and get more people exposed and involved with newschool skiing, which in turn could also increase company profits and make for better movies.

In any case, I'm not going to post anything from recent movies. My way of keeping away from the argument and controversy. My reason for posting the clips I've done is to show people, especially some of the newer people to the sport, different style and essentially our roots. Where skiing came from and the history surrounding our sport is important for everyone to have access to. People arent going to go and buy a ten year old ski movie, simply because they wouldnt think it has any value. Hopefully, the exposure I'm creating will get people to see that there is both a history and amazing footage to be found in these movies.

And by all means, buy the old movies! Some of them are great, better than a few of the recent films made by the big companies. Go for the packs of them if you can find them, I know Berman and MSP have them, and they're all worth it.

On the topic of really old ski movies however.... a lot of them are disappearing. Its almost impossible to find a copy of Tee-Time, Flying Circus or some of Levins movies. I'd like to propose that maybe NS should get involved in acquiring these videos and at least preserving them somehow electronically. I'm sure at least someone on NS would have a copy of these movies. If NS had an archive of the really old ones it would at the very least preserve out sports history. It would be even cooler if they were allowed permission to host these movies on the site. Maybe an added feature to donators or something (Hey, I would donate to see those!). Just an idea anyways.

yo bitch. stfu. a single segment on youtube is not a problem. i have never seen a full video on youtube so why the fuck does it matter. anyways ski enthusiasts will buy the movie no matter what. therefore, it doesnt matter if one of the segments is posted elsewhere. it is actually a good thing that segments are posted on youtube because it shows non-skiers how dope skiing really is nowadays.

TBC was completely uploaded, and so is MTN lab, and absinth's More, also Forum's That, also MDP's People and Follow Me Around.

think of this.. segments dont cause people to not buy movies.. therefore i have othing against segments on youtube or any other hosting site. Full movies are what people should flame about. You cant complain about a 3-4 minute clip, but 30-60 minutes of hardwork and effort shouldnt be handed out freely.
