Stop it Sponsors

I have a problem. All these kids are running around saying they are sponsored or whatever when all they do is send a video to some ski company and that company gives them some dumb fuckin discount on a hat or something. Give it to them straight! Cut the in between bullshit. Please

I got free goggles in the mail and then some legit actual 12 year old kids skied up to me and told me how sick my goggles are. Is that the kind of thing you are talking about OP? Sometimes it really happens. I didn't even have to try hard.

Keep the dream alive OP.

This is not a problem, this is actually the best way to start a relationship with a brand ... we love seeing up and comers. No one should bang on the first date if they start a relationship so why should a brand be sending free skis on the first contact? It's case by case but usually, if there is a good up and comer in your inbox or DMs you'd start with a discount through a local shop or rep then go from there.

In most sports/activities sponsorship does not start with free shit. In fact often times it's only the people at the pinnacle who are getting everything for free. I am sponsored in another sport. I have to wear that companies products, and use their equipment. I recieve that stuff at a large discount. As the relationship matures, or your success/exposure is greater the benfits can certainly improve.

If you don't mind me asking, what sport? (I'm just curious)

What is wrong with fucking on the first date? If the fit is right, send it.

Seriously though I think think that between the lines here is the key. Sponsored athlete is a really wide term... everything from you got pro deal from sending an edit, to shop sponsorship to a local rep giving you product because you're good in your area. These are all some form of sponsored, but it doesn't make you a pro.

I think people over use the word sponsored skier, but does it matter?

action sports collectively has a fucking mental disorder when it comes to sponsorship. i guess my theory is that since it's not a team sport, people desire some sort of badge or accreditation to show theyre at a certain level

i won't claim i was always above it, i had the same weird view of sponsorship when i was a teenager. but shit it gets old haha

Man like who gives a fuck. If it's a little kid who's excited give em a break. They're the ones that are gonna continue the sport so don't shit on them for starting down the road to sponsorship.

How is it any more ridiculous than being sponsored to slide snow skis on metal rails?

As always nailed it. Go have fun and make relationships with brands. If you are good enough eventually a pro-form will turn into something more. Brands recognize their talent and reward those athletes and ambassadors. Yo and comers are well known these days, and with hard work will end up with opportunities. Just keep working hard.

It isn't, if you think about it any sport could be called ridiculous for a variety of different reasons. Fake skiermans just desperately trying to find material to twist his nipples with.

Because you can't blunt grab while pretending to be in a shootout with painting materials.

I think what you were meaning to say was because you can't slide multicoloured plumbing pipes on your silly long rollerblade sticks while also shooting non lethal amunition in a competitive high intensity war zone. It could go either way man.

It's more like talking to a celeb impersonator. As much as you might wish, he never will be real or original. Instead hes just spewing unoriginal and slightly altered garbage from YouTubes comment section while calling you unoriginal (the irony), a butthurt millennial and yes you guessed it to kill yourself. Yeah pretty much that. Super entertaining though.
