Stop Hating on Quads.

It may be just me, but I think this hostility is utterly over-exaggerated. Freeskiing is a sport that will never be defined. Face it however you like, but throwing quads is progression. Freeskiing doesn't progress forward, it progresses outward, into many different directions and pathways.

Being upset over a new trick being thrown is a waste of time. The first person to throw a quad on skis will have been working up to it their whole life, and will feel an incredible sense of accomplishment when they finally land. That is the essence of the sport.

I for one, have never been all that successful at all in the park, and will likely reach my death bed never haven even so much as landed a double. Just because I like to focus on a different niche in the broad spectrum that freeskiing takes up, doesn't mean I can't respect people progressing the sport in other directions, and in fact, I love when it happens.

So focus on the aspects of this great sport that bring you enjoyment. If you don't like watching fast rotations of enormous jumps, then don't, just continue to progress and support the progression of others. People throwing quads are not dooming the sport, but instead widening its reach.

i think quads won't catch on for about 2 more years.

but people will still try it in big air finals for the last 7 minutes but they can't land it so they all kinda slap into the snow

apparently nobody realized i was being sarcastic as fuck then. for people who are all about progression the mods here seem to really against it. I mean shit, we hype future spins all the time but somebody adds another flip to their tricks and the mods start to riot against theme. fucking hypocrites

And don't you worry, I'm very consistent. Hell I hated the shit out of switch 10s when that was what everyone was doing.

there's nothing wrong on hating on quads, i find them ugly and just for the people that don't know freestyle. don't tell me a flatspin 5 bow and arrow is uglier than a quad

Regression towards style, simplicity and art is an excellent direction for hype to go in. I'm all about it, and I think more need to at least hear it.

Before you give yourself a fucking aneurysm, consider the much bigger emphasis on style before quads, triples, and doubles where happening.

Individual styles were what helped to set skiers apart. That's not to say there aren't skiers with their own unique styles today, but when the bag of tricks was as limited as it was a few years ago - especially when compared to today - skiers needing something else to help set themselves apart from others. Style was that difference.

Quads are lame.

too bad everyone that has was people "style" literally ski the same way. Tweaked safety, blunts, taps and presses thats all you see nowadays and it gets boring as fuck to watch just like watching triples and quads all the time would be boring.

Smaller slower spins isnt having style, its having a certain kind of style. Just like doing big spins/flips is another kind of style.

There is no right or wrong way to ski and i cant believe others are saying that there is, especially bishop, since he use to be on here preaching nothing but FREEskiing.

Most of this probly doesnt make sense but whatever in at work on mobile and i just whipped it up in a couple minutes

That's not what I said at all, that's simply how you chose to interpret it for the sake of argument.

Big spins and flips are not about style, they're about hucking yourself to complete a certain degree of rotation in a limited amount of time. I mean sure, that's impressive and it looks insane, but if you think that is truly a more beautiful sight than one of Wallisch's stretched-out cork 3s, you're part of the problem.

What's stupid is telling people that they have some duty to abandon their preferences and affirmatively enjoy something for the sake of etiquette.

Nobody is saying people can't do what they want. It's freeskiing after all. But that doesn't mean we have to give a shit, and telling people to care sort of swallows your own argument.
