Heres the specs:

1.83 ghz Core 2 Duo processor

2 gb of memory

80 gb hard drive

CD/DVD burner

Built in Webcam

Bluetooth

Wireless N

Macbook: $1399

Dell XPS M1210: $2032

I tried to make the computers as similar as possible. As you can see the Mac is actually CHEAPER than the dell.

There are a couple differences though. The Dell comes with a TV tuner so subtract 150 dollars from that. Also it comes with a mobile broadband antenna so you can probably subtract another 150 dollars. Also I'm not entirely sure that the Macbook has Wireless N. I know the Pros have it but I'm not 100% sure on teh plain old macbooks. So you can subtract 50 more dollars if you want to. Also the macbook has a 13 inch screen while the dell has a 12 inch. So you can probably add 100 back to the Dell. So I guess the dell comes out to about 1750.

Surprisingly the Dell is the more expensive computer. This kind of goes against the argument where most people say OMG Macs are so EXPENSIVE!@ PeeCees ruLe. I'll admit that Macs are pretty expensive. The reason is because they're all good computers. The slowest processor in the Macbooks is the 1.83 ghz Core Duo. The fastest one in the Dells that werent the XPS models was only 1.73. You get what you pay for with computers.

You cant compare a mac vs a dell...there is just no comparison. You can build your own comp with those specs for pretty damn cheap. But all in all, no, Macs are not 'too expensive' or whatever people claim.

i wouldnt want a mac becauyse so much shit doesnt work on them and you have to get special programs for them and jibberish doesnt work on them

someone's getting a boner to a picture of you grinding up and down your skis right now...ohhhhh yeaaaaa

that someone is me, giggidy giggidy

well put.

i built my own computer, my brother built his own, and i built my mom one, because she needed a computer too.

i have a macbook an i LOVE it. sure it was expensive, but i got what i paid for. $2500. it just depends on what you want to do with it.

if you want nice things you have to pay for it. yea you can buy a dell laptop for $300 and a macbook pro for $2500, but you get what you pay for

You are half right.

The hardware equivelant from HP is about 1200. That gives you a 14 inch screen too.

The sony equivelant is over 2000 dollars and that doesn't include a camera.
