Stoner NS: Problems With a New Ashcatcher

Just spent a good amount of money on a brand name 6 arm tree perk ashcatcher for my straight tube bong. Problem is, the joint does not quite fit in the downstem and i am really frustrated by this.

Is there a male and a female connection? do i need an adaptor? not sure on exact size of both but im assuming they are both 14.5mm, neither are very large. Also got a seporate slide, and it is the same size as the ashcatcher. Wish i was in the 420 cult but no such luck, any help would be great.
 
there are different sizes of joints, 14mm or i guess 14.5 mm and i know they get bigger up to 18mm (dont quote me on that)

im sure you could get some sort of adapter or o-ring to make it work, but its always a good idea to make sure your ac will work in your piece and the bowl and all fits.

420 forum will definitely help you out. i know pretty much nothing about glass haha but they do. you have any problems with rolling joints, let me know lol
 
I've had this happen before. Usually with poorly made glass and two different brands that don't have a very well known name. They could both be labelled as 14.5mm but have a slightly different fit that doesn't allow them to be used together.
 
this sounds like the most logical response so far. i shopped around for a while before i bought this one so i definitly got accustomed to telling the difference between 14 and 18, obviously i got the one i thought was 14 but it still is too big. Could be an even bigger pain if the downstem really is just an off size and neither of the two normal dimentions, because a converter may not exist. keep the responses coming, need all the input i can get!
 
there is 14 and 18 as stated.

you can easilly fix this with the adapter from _ to _ for pretty cheap (probably like 40 bucks max?)

 
Word, it seems like you know what your'e doing so I don't think you would buy an 18mm ash-catcher. You're in a shitty situation where either your downstem female is to small or the male on the AC is to big. Maybe a mm off each and they don't fit. Sadly, there isn't much you can do. You'll figure it out though hopefully.

you gotta know your diffuser size before you buy an ashcatcher.

but i also have a 6 arm ashcatcher. very nice.

helps out the other 12 arms...
 
I would love an invite. especially times like this when I can gaze my eyes upon those crystally crystal thc crystals and ski through powder on white widow.
 
This wasn't supposed to be an invite thread to the 420 cult, i haven't even gotten one although it would be very helpful. bump
 
you need a converter most likely. shouldnt be too hard to find. its always best to know the size of the piece before you buy an attachment
