hey all, I got my pocket rockets stolen today up at Wolf Creek. There were five pairs of twin tips stolen that were reported. Do any of you guys have any advice? I reported them to the ski patrol and when the sheriff got there....but is there any way I can get Salomon to replace them? help appreciated

Damn that sucks, I got rockets too and I'm going up to the creek here in 2 weeks. I don't think Salomon warranties thefts...your on your own with stuff like that. Damn that sucks.

I was curious though, hows the snow right now and how much is open? Hopefully It'll be sweet here in a few weeks.

you might want to try hitting up the mountian for replacements, at a small mountain they may have left it out of any legal clauses or there might be a loophole in their policy

there are loopholes, but it doesnt sound like you would fall into one. I have seen people come into our shop who have there skis stolen and 10 minutes later left with a free pair.

Dude, check ebay every day, sooner or later your pair will be there. If it is report and file a civil law suit against him. It has worked in the past,.

I'd check on like ebay every now and then to see if they put the skis on there. People who are stupid enough to steal skis will do that or they'll show back up at the mountain skiin' your skis.

I know I always put like a distinguishable sticker in between the bindings and run over it with a torch to burn it to the ski. It won't come off if someone tries to take it off or it will mess up the top sheet. I do this just in case someone steals them and they try to resale or ski them at the mtn.

you can only chrge them if you have the serial number, i know cause i had a pair stolen from a hotel lockup and the police and the hotel wouldn't do shit cause i had no serial number

the torching a sticker in is a good idea. I usually have at least one distinguishing mark on all my skis.

Another thing I have done was to use a sharpie marker after you strip the bases and mark the base. Then wax em really good. The one time I did this, the marker got into the base and there is no getting it out, those bases were permenantly marked.

As far as serial numbers go, take note of hte numbers on the skis and have pictures of any identifiable marks you put on the skis, that way if they pop-up for sale somewhere, or you see someone with em, you have proof that they are yours.

I never thought about that either. It probably would be good to have 2 or 3 marks on your ski to distinguish if their yours or not. If the thief sees one he might cover it up but there are still a few more there.

I hate to do it but I think I'm going to buy one of those retractable cable locks to lock my skis up when I go eat or something. It's sad that it comes to that but I guess it's better than losing a $600 investment in a few seconds.

that or just write your name under the toe piece before it is mounted.

I always write my initials on my skis somewhere.

Most of my skis always have some distinctive marks on the base or somewhere on the topsheet.

Putting the intials under the bindings before mounting them is a good idea I never thought of that.

Im lucky living in japan cause the punks here only steal snowboards. Also they have insurance that covers theft BCsking injuries and breakage its about 30us a year. A buddy of mine uses this to get a deal on new skis almost every year. The under the binding trick sounds good but the serial number is your best bet. If the cops see a scratched out number they might be willing to help out a bit more.

Having 5 pairs stolen sounds like it was pretty organized.

P.S. JAPAN HAS SICK POWDER

yea, the mark under the binding trick works real well, cuz most of the time the robber will not un mount the ski to check if there is a mark there.

I cannot help get them back but i can tell you if you take a documented photo and discription you can put it under homeowned insurance, i have both of my skis and my bike under it

Just throw caution to the wind

YEs it works with renters. But you need to check with your insurance to see what there stipulations (sp?) are. I had a pick up truck and my skis were jacked out of the back. I figured I was screwed sice I did not have a tono or a canope but my renters covered it all I had to do was pay my deductible. I asked my insurance about it and even know I should have know that they could be stolen, THeft is Theft!

Good luck man

Maybe send an e-mail to Soloman, to a rep or anyone and see if you can plead you case, probably won't do much but you have nothing to loose.
