Stolen Skis?

So basically my friends LINE Blends were stolen about a week ago. I had the (perhaps naive) feeling that having your skis stolen is something quite rare. Is this the case? Have any of you had any personal experiences with ski-theft?
 
One of the shittiest things that can happen to you in the ski world. I often times doubt that its other park skiers who steal skis just because if you are a skier, you probably have enough respect for the sport and have a certain love for it that you would not sink to a level where you would steal something that brings so much joy to someone. Probably some fucking snowboarders. But honestly I hope you find your skis. Where were they taken from? Maybe NS can track them down.

Don’t just blame snowboarders dude. That’s ignorant as fuck, it could have been anyone. Not every skier is some angel. Maybe they’re an addict or some shit? A skier is going to know that Blends are an easy sell and great ski while most boarders wouldn’t. Probably was more likely a skier IMO.

Why do some of you guys make skiers and boarders some Crip vs. Blood shit? It’s not like they’re scooter kids. Now they can go fuck themselves...

I live in switzerland so i unfortunately doubt anyone can track em down. They were pretty old anyway so my friends getting a new pair of ON3P skis now.

Perosnally i’ve never had skis stolen but know people who have,and probably the best bet is to just get some sort of lock.

See loads of Dps,elan skis all locked up these days lol
 
Sorry to hear about your skis. Stolen skis are common in the big ski areas in the U.S. It's pretty rare for a particular person to get their skis stolen, but at any large ski area, someone is going to get their skis stolen. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which skis get stolen either. My wife's 5 year old intermediate groomer skis got stolen a couple of seasons ago though it probably cost the thief more gas money to drive the skis away from the mountain than he would get from selling them. The skis were surrounded by far more expensive skis too. While I was filing the report at security, there were a few other people reporting stolen skis too.
 
I put mine base facing out so people can see my revolutionary baseless edgeless ski its usually a good deterrent

99.9% of the people at the mountain are decent people. They might be a jerry, they might be some drunk guy to cut you off, but they won't steal your shit.

Unfortunately there's that .1% of the crowd that's completely shitty, will steal your shit, and should die asap.

I've had a board with brand new binders stolen. I think that was my only board or ski theft but it sucked. Especially if you can't afford other gear. Used to happen at mount snow all the time especially pay your age day. They should have done a sting there because it was getting so bad.

Took some kids there from the mountain I worked at. 1 of them got his board jacked. Probably the saddest shit ever watching a kid cry because he couldn't snowboard. Didn't even end up getting another board. Rented skis twice and then stopped going to the mountain. I saw several people looking for their gear that day. I think there were 8 boards stolen in a short window.

If you steal somebodies gear FUCK YOU. IF your friend steals gear and you don't call them out FUCK YOU. If your a mountain where gear get stolen all the time, and you won't even pretend to care, or even think about throwing up cameras FUCK YOU.(I get that watching footage is boring, but just the camera alone is a deterrent many times. And even if you're too lazy. Im sure the person who's gear got jackets would be willing to scope it out.

Lady at beaver creek was all about busting people. She would sift through footage and be like AH HA! Got the fucker! Then the search would be on.

People who steal shit suck. People who steal that activity that people use to escape all the bullshit in this world, suck more. People ski and snowboard to leave their problems behind, have a great day, or maybe improve a shitty week. Even though it's considered a "rich sport" a lot of people participating are far from loaded, some can't afford another pair of skis or another board. If you take that little bit of joy from their life I hope you get hit by a fucking train.

I will often leave a ski on the rack and huck the other in a bush or something. No one wants to steal one ski.

Got a pair of ON3P Jeronimos the last year they made them stolen at Steamboat. It was a custom topsheet from an old Cease and Desist graphic. They were my babies and I only had them for like 3 months, it was such a bummer.

Ski theft should be death penalty for sure

At my mountain the snowboarders ruin everything. The skiers volunteer to do trash clean up, volunteer at the mountain, and help old ladies cross the road in front of the lodge.

What have snowboarders every done for the community?

What's trash about boho? Their 99$ season pass that gives you 8 free days out west and 6 free days in the u.p? Or is it they're ungroomed terrain that's too hard for you to ski? Is it that they have the steepest and deepest in the Midwest?

I ski boho because it's cheap, they have the best terrain in the Midwest, and because I live an hour away.

I’ve never had any problems with my coworker who skis but also snowboards and a few friends from school. Ones ski patrol and another is on the GP park team. They are the reason park skiing even exists.

Most of them are douchebags. Sure. But don’t over generalize. That’s no different than saying all black people are lazy and ignorant, all Jews are greedy, and that all skiers are trust fund faggots.

If you ski with a friend, and you're sketched out, give your buddy one of your skis and have him give you one of his. Put them on separate racks, and your skis wont get stolen. It's definitely kind of a bitch to do, but nobody will hunt down mismatched skis. It's too much work.

Same, I always lock my stuff up now. My Line StepUps with brand new FKS bindings along with a bunch of my other gear was stolen from car a few years ago and it sucks. I was lucky I had a pair of beaters to finish off the season with though. People who steal skis are garbage.
 
When ever i put my skis on the racks i stack them under someone else so they are kinda hidden. defiantly better ways to do it, but its better than nothing
 
Yes, my skis fell off a ski rack on Saturday in NEPA and there is no way I would have been able to see 5-foot white skis on the side of the road so I am thinking someone picked them up. It's a terrible feeling because they are my babies that I live for. I hope he finds them soon.

Way back in the day my friend borrowed some kung fujas of mine on a trip to holiday valley. He put them in ski check and lost the ticket, went back and they were gone. We searched the whole rack with the staff but nothing. The next day we were riding the elevator up in the lodge, and some dude got in with the skis. I called him out for his dope skis and asked about the Capital Park sticker on the back, then told them they were mine. He was mad embarrassed and said he found them in the stairwell and got off on the next floor. Crazy story but true shit.

I've had skis stolen off the rack. And I've had vehicles broken into and skis stolen.

It was shitty enough to have my skis stolen. But then my friend who was with me said "Just grab somebody else's". THAT really pissed me off. What kind of an attitude is that?
 
back before we got started- i had a pair of Salomon 1080's, the one's with the winged "S" on the tip, walk away from me.

was staying ski-in/ski-out, skied down to get my ticket and distinctly remember putting my skis on a rack precisely because there was a camera looking at the rack. went inside, grabbed a Ticket and when i came out skis were not where i put them, wasn't out of site for 10mins. After 2 hours of running between lost and found, mountain services, security, town police and others i learned that it was just a dummy camera with no recording capability. to this day i wonder if they were stolen or if it was just a mistake, ski was a few years old at the time.

Resort services was kind enough to give me a ride back up the mountain to the condo.

positive outcome of it was that for the next two seasons i demo'd just about every ski sold at three of the ski shops i frequent. got a really good feel for testing skis and how different skis perform in different conditions. so that was a fun two seasons.
 
wouldnt say its rare at all. i know tons of people who live in SLC who have had their cars broken into and tons of gear/skis/packs/etc. stolen right in front of their house/apartment and even in park city. my buddy had his rossi scratches with FKS' jacked out of his truckbed during apres when he stopped in for a quick beer at one of the local bars.
