that sucks man, i can sympathize.

i'll keep my eyes open. you should email play it again sports and file a police report so that it will come up if they sell it to a pawn shop and they enter it into the database.

Don't contact a pawn shop telling them that yours were stolen and your looking for them. Just check and see if they have some. My buddies mountain bike got stollen and he talked to a couple dudes at pawn shops and they flat out said they wouldn't buy it if it came in because its a pain to get re-imbursed by the state so he'd rather just avoid potentially stollen stuff. Just FYI.

i just got 1500 bucks of ski gear jacked outta my car so i have recent experience on this exact subject.

the slcpd can't really do shit other than take the report unless you have video/pics/some other proof of who took it, so you are basically on your own for any efforts put in after you flie the report.

in salt lake, pawn shops have to input everything they receive into a database that searches the police database of stolen goods for items matching the description of the received items (if they actually input it that is, who knows if they always do or not) if they get a hit they call the police with the case number that pops up and they go investigate.

i went around to 20 or so pawnshops in the local area by my apt and first asked if they dealt with skis, then if they did i asked where they were, then when mine weren't there i gave them a flyer with a picture, description, and case number from the police report. while this incident isn't that big of a deal to them, any trigger in their memory would help if someone came in tryin to pawn the stuff, so i always left a flyer.

when i went to play it again they took the info and emailed the other stores in utah with it.

first and foremost you should file the report though so the description is entered into the database.
