Stoked on STH by Salomon

I was at a shop tonight and saw Salomon's new STH bindings. @!(@ing DOPE!

STH - steel track housing. (what blew me away was the weight. Hands down the lightest on the market. I check vs Rossi and Marker.

The STH 12 are sick looking, tank green with an anodized finish... They almost look like they are rusting. So nice.

The STH 16's are nice too. White and Green. DIN go to 16 which is hardcore!

I'm foshow getting the 12's.

Check em' out

what I wanna know is are the 12s less shitty than the z12s cuz they have the same design, just better materials I guess...

same design better materials, more burly. Alot of people blew out z10 and z12 toe pieces because the afd was too narrow, hence the new wider afd and stronger materials.

my brothers z12s and my s810s both ahd huge sisues with screw holes and baseplate on the heelpiece cracking, and the toepiece loosening up(mostly on the s810s) I hope the sths are more durable, because otehrwise they were sweet bindings-so light!

I just got a pair of sth16's mounted and was worried about the extra weight. Which is stupid anyways, because theyre bindings... who cares? but theyre light as!!!!!!

Theyre sturdy and light, I would take these personally over anything else right now.

the new jesters and the sth are both some of thge lightest bindings i have ever held in my hands.

Are the STH-16's more durable than the STH-12's? Or do they just have a higher DIN. It seems if they are more durable, they'll also be heavier.

from the pictures i have seen and holding the 12s in my hands,,, i was under the assumption that the toe piece was a little different, on the 16s. more like the older driver toe instead of the z10 style toe??

but im probably wrong???

sth12 has a beefed up z series toe piece: no wing adjustment/toe height.

sth16 has a beefed up s914/s912 toe piece.

Both use the same heel, one is a 12 din, the other 16.

almost exactly correct. the toe pieces are very similar (z for the 12, 914 for the 16) with the exception that they both have wider AFDs and you can adjust the toewings on the sth16 topiece independently (a la 916/920). japanada was wrong. twice.

The sth12 toe is different than the z12. The plastics have been tweaked and molded slightly differently.

They are considerably more solid.

yeah the 12s have the Z series toe piece and the 16's have the driver toe piece thats been on the bindings before, the driver toe piece is on a peg coming up from the ski so it can release 180 degrees up, down, sideways anyways. Also it has individualy ajustable wings (pretty sure). i probably dont need a 16 din binding but im gonna go for it because of the durability and toe piece.

hahaha. anyone who doesnt know what were talking about. this would look like were eirther a bunch of geeks or were speaking mumbo jumbo

on the topic of weight, when i held the jester and the STH16 i would say the jester is lighter... what do you guys think

STH 12.

Beefed up z12 toe

wormscrew heelpiece from old 916s

STH 16

916 toe WITH PLASTIC WINGS (916s were ALL metal)

wormscrew 926 heel.

as for differences, its not in durability, but performance. the 16 toe is a much larger interface with the boot, and skis noticeably better.

wrong.

The heelpiece is very similar to the 916s but has a plastic heel cup instead of a metal one. That is one area where they saved so much weight. Also, for the LAST FUCKING TIME, the STH16 toepiece is not the same as the 916 toepiece but plastic. It is very similar to the 914 toepiece, with the exception of a wider AFD and independent toe wing adjustment.

I have a pair of STH16s and 4 pairs of 916s. I have looked at these enough to know the differences. Please stop talking when you don't know anything.

sth 16 metal in toe and heal, sth 12 metal in heal only. floating toe in 16 because din goes to 16 so had to fit a larger spring in the toe. both bullet proof

I know that there is a 5th screw in the center of the STH heel piece specifically to help with big switch landings.

The heel piece on those bindings is definitely beef.
