Stoke level = 100. Heading to Jackson late Jan-Feb

Turning 40 this year and my wife is sending me to JHole with my crew. Too say I am stoked is an understatement. Looking for any suggestions on runs, we know the obvious. Bars/Restaurants etc?

Also looking to pay someone to take some vids for us could be a total amateur we don’t care obviously we would pay you. Any tips on lodging booking that before October. Wanna be close to the mountain as possible.

We are a crew of 30-40 year old EC rippers. Keep my stoke alive!

If you're looking moderately affordable and close to the mountain, check out the Hostel. Cool way to meet other vacationers and ski bums too.

I'd highly recommend checking out the Hobacks, wide open ridges and consistent steep pitch for like 2000 vert. Also Teton pass if you have a tour setup.

I dont really know about bars but I've heard there are some rowdy ones. Mad jealous, have a great trip!

hmmm. you want to pay people to film you? do you have any footage to show off skill ability?

I lived there for 10 years and might know a couple of dirtbags fit for the job

Jackson is dope,

For a group of dudes, 150% book some bunk rooms at the hostel. Open carry is totally chill there, go down to the lobby and get hammered, nobody will care. Sometimes the front desk has a secret envelope of discount passes that you can buy (saves you ~$25 per pass). And I can get you a pot hookup steps from your door, pm me if you think I'm joking.

Best restaurant in the village is Teton Thai, and there's good breakfast in the basement of the Mangy Moose, I recommend the premade breakfast burritos. Best pizza is Pinky G's, best barbeque is Moe's, my favorite overall resteraunt is Genevive's.

Seriously book the hostel though. Everywhere else is full of old rich cunts.

Also if you're down for a hike, Casper bowl is magic first thing on a powder day. Hobacks are usually tracked to hell unless you get first tram at 6:45am

Thank you to everyone who replied. Heading out Wednesday January 30th thru Sunday if anyone is around. I promise we can keep up

Booked the outpost now looking for flights and more importantly someone to film us atleast a day. Obviously will pay, no experience necessary. Someone with a pass and some mountain knowledge would be huge.

I would be surprised if more then 2 people on Newschoolers have a pass at Jackson.

No doubt.

Another question. Any good demo shops out there? I don’t have any good pow ski’s anymore

Again, come to the good side. I've got 20+ options in the garage in the 180-190 cm range

I'll be up there the weekend before love

Hah, I think your quiver might be better than mine though! Hit me up. Trying to full time ski-bum this winter so I'd be stoked to grab some pass or Targhee laps!

Sick! Yeah! I can show you the goods!

Show me the goods! But for real any good demo shops? I have Volkl Mantra’s too narrow for Jhole

Watch out for the Jackson Hole Hypebeasts. I hear there is a lot of them and they drink beer!

Some of that ski in ski out is pretty fucking dope there. You can grab snake river lodge as cheap as $150 a night depending on dates. I think it's generally around 3 but place is pretty dope. Ski valet, nice heated pools indoor/outdoor. Save the half hour clusterfuck drive from jackson.

Isn't Jackson Hole on the IKON this year? Pretty sure a shit ton of people will have access.

Yeah but its only good for 5 days on the IKON. I think the only people who are going to film him, are going to be people who live there. Which is going to be like 2 people on here.

The bro scene is intimidating to say the least. Every other dude in the tram line looks like he's gunning for a spot on the tour.

If you're going to be in the village the Mangy Moose is the place to drink.

You'd be shocked at how many Jackson folks are on NS. I really don't understand why you think there's only two of us.

To the rest of the thread, yeah, Jackson bro scene can be terrible and intimidating. That's how it goes when everyone idolizes a location as the home of true freeride big mountain skiing. Everybody and their little brother moves out to join the dick measuring contest. That said, it's a rad hill with rad skiing. It's hard to have a really bad day there. Early season is starting slower than it has in previous years, but at least on the Idaho side, we've got some descent touring and it seems like we're right on track for opening day.

I don't ever see anyone posting about it, i see people posting about Targhee though

Most of the Jackson bro brahs are super chill but stupid competitive. It's fun to mess with their egos.

What’s the best shop too demo some pow/all mountain skis ?

Jackson hole sports or Teton Village sports. JH is right by the bottom on the gondola and tvs is next to the hostel

So it looks like hanging around the Sublette area and obviously the tram area is where most of the goods are correct? Any other good chairs to lap?

Can you bike to the headwall from Tensleep bowl without using avy gear? Because that’s technically inbounds right?

No problem.

That being said, I personally wouldn't worry about using avy gear in-bounds unless there has been a lot of fresh snow. I have to imagine they blast that area regularly given the trails that run below the runout path.

Unless you plan on going through marked gates into the actual backcountry like Cody Peak or Granite Canyon you don't REALLY need it. There was that inbounds avalanche a few weeks back and there was the one at Solitude(?) last year in UT but 9/10 times you can do without it. If it gives you (or your family) the peace of mind to use it go for it. I wouldn't worry too much about how to use it beyond the basics for the beacon which can be found on youtube.

If you guys can swing the cash and are interested, definitely consider hiring a certified guide to take you to ski over by Cody Peak. They can't take you to Granite but Cody Peak is fair game for them. It's worth it IMO.

It is definitely a hike to get there but if you guys are all in relatively good cardiovascular shape you should have no problem with it. There is some great skiing to be done. I had the opportunity about 8 years ago and I regret not getting more out of it.

One week away, hoping we get a sleeper storm late next week. Regardless the stoke level is high!

Went for the first time 2 weeks ago. Skied the village and toured the pass. It's honestly an outer body experience. I'm already itching to get back.

Yea buddy!! Any highlights you wanna share? Not touring the pass, just the mountain, food,restaurants/bars etc
