Trade options with smaller accounts if you want big moves. Crypto doesnt move enough quick enough for me and you get taxed out the ass because its not a recognized security or currency.

you dont think crypto is volatile enough?

also are there any platforms for margin trading stocks that dont require minimum balances? because SEC requires 10k minimum balance to day trade

25k min to day trade

No. They move slow unless there is a catalyst which are few and far between. Plus you get taxed on every transaction not the net gains/losses over the year.

And as stated above, its 25k to pattern day trade (on legal platforms). You can trade 3 times in a 5 business day span per platform otherwise. I started with a few thousand working my way up to a pattern day trader.

Anyone still have shares in geron? Cc tomorrow to discuss JJ collaboration ..... About to get very volatile up or down tomorrow

I changed my mind to bearish on this stock after the pump and dump last week. That was the last red flag. I lost some money getting out but I luckily wasnt holding into today. I actually tried to buy some at close yesterday but my limit order didnt take thank god.

There is a tiny tiny tiny chance they just couldnt come to a buyout agreement and can line someone else up. But, mpst compaies will see a powerhouse rejected them and not touch it.

And to be clear, I thought the continuation decision was going to be positive. I just saw another pump and dump coming and the real money would be after FDA approval. Thats why I started only day trading this.

Yeah. I only have a small 280 shares so not too much to lose. Shoulda taken profit enough to cover my cost. Guess I'm riding this one out through P3. I think people are being overly bearish right now though.

One thing I've noticed and why I jumped in this is that newer cancer drugs (e.g. Avastin) with flimsy efficacy (I'm talking giving folks an extra few months survival) are approved and have tons of serious ADRs. Statically significant yes. Clinically significant, debatable. Emotionally significant for patients, yes. The FDAs perpensity to approve cancer drugs like this is quite high. That is why I'm not running for the hills just yet.

You were right tho. Tons of money made with day trading this one.

I think it’s a good time to buy back into geron at anything below $3 if you have the patience to wait a few years

I got some on the intial dip at 1.78. Debating holding until FDA approval a couple years from now. The intent was to buy for a dead cat bounce day trade. We will see.

Honestly I'm prob just gonna hold til the next hype spike whether it's months or a year or two from now and then sell.

Kinda kicking myself for not selling at 6-7, but I was totally not expecting JJ to back out or for the reaction to be so harsh. My goal was to sell when they announced the CD so fuck haha

I’ve always been a fan of lithium extraction since Tesla went public, here’s something to keep an eye on. SQM is a huge supplier of the raw material for the industry as a whole. I have stock in ALB,SQM,FMC and one Chinese etf I like for long term is FXI. Also closely watching AMD/intel battle for market share/production right now. And SQ is still holding well!

Canadian MJ futures are a sure bet. I've been day trading these since last year and have seen some very nice margins. 150% market growth since last year. Very bullish on this.

Trevena is running today

A few days after this post it tanked. Hard. Luckily I sold enough leading up to the document release to be net even before the shares I have left to sell. Holding roughly 40% of initial shares and watching this adcom all day. First one I've ever watched and quite interesting and humorous to say the least. It's way better than c-span hahaha

Bad month for equities. I just got a pre-statement update from our brokerage ( my bosses, not mine) and we're up $750k this month from trading Gold Futures on margin. It's bittersweet for me since this is the first time I've been on the winning side of a correction but that's how she goes. Hopefully everyone here is doing fine, I notice many of the stocks discussed haven't been affected too bad.

FBI investigation coming soon into the model 3 production numbers. I suspect they're cooking the books a bit.

Ya I read that on Bloomberg tonight,to much tit for tat going on for me but I’m still a Tesla fanboy!

But when the news broke, it didnt make a difference. The share price actually rose into close. Unlike the last investigation news. Everyone overlooks that bads news whem profits are finally here I guess.

Crypto has been relatively stable lately. It's actually becoming pretty hard to day trade, especially compared to earlier this year

Crypto starting to get too boring for ya? Just trade it on margin! Report back the size of your balls.

Definitely the size of peas because there's no way I'm doing that haha

yeah its been boring as fuck the past couple months, you can margin scalp but its risky... the "bart"-ing has been pretty predictable though

Also after following SQ for some time and watching the CEO/CFO mashup I see SQ as easy money again. Im ready for winter already stock market is boring me right now. Got the soccer mom wagon out in the snow a couple days ago!

Just got back from vacation with no trading. Did I miss anything good?

I caught a big win a couple weeks ago on TLRY options. I rewarded myself with a new truck with everything I have made this year. New 25' toy hauler being built now too.

Made $602 on a small TLRY put option today. Im switching almost exclusively to option trading now, not intentionally.

Do you ever do short selling, with calls as insurance?

Never done it with shorting common stock and then calls.

I have bought both calls and puts on the same stock. If your expecting an insane swing but could go either way, it works. If it doesnt move much, you lose.

Straddle, nice! The derivatives world really is amazing.. Derivative traders are on another level. I was lucky enough to take a derivatives class last year, I loved it. Crazy what kind of derivatives you can build

30% growth in the last month on my options only account. Not too bad. I rarely trade on RH but free options is a good draw and they are killing it.

I have Schwab but I like the up to date info I can get in an easy to use app like robinhood and the market price isn’t always the same for market buys I’ve found. I don’t use any other platforms and prolly never will

Nice!

But why still use robinhood since the other platforms are free now too and much better?
