Stiff vs. Soft

So why do people prefer soft flex in park??? Does it necessarily mean that stiff doesn't perform as well in park??? Could anyone give me comparions of the two in park performance??? Thanks

ge i dont know about park performance , but I enjoy it stiff myself...

soft is just more forgiving and easier to butter.

stiffer sticks are more stable everywhere (esp on big landings) and hold an edge better in the pipe

soft skis are for sure fun in the park, but if your a bigger guy, you can flex a stiff ski just as much. i went from fujatives to PE's this year, and probably won't ever go back to anything that soft again. if you land a little on your tails, stiff skis put you back on your feet way quicker.

i think stiff skis are more stable in the air, they also pop different, cuz ive skiied my brothers armadas and my salomons and the armadas are way better off jumps

stiff firm feel

thats the clincher... the stiffer skis help put you back on to flat skis... if you are bigger and the ski is too soft then it washes out. It comes down to personal preference and size... i like a stiffer park ski - it is still alot softer than a traditional carve ski, but it feels more solid (keep in mind I am 6'3) if i was a little midget i might want it to be a bit softer so i could throw it around a bit better

haha that was good, but yeah soft is easier to butter n ollie, for the people that said its easier for them on stiff skis its cause u dont weigh enough or jsut have no leg strength

What you just siad makes absolutley no sense at all. In fact it could have been one of the most retarded things i have read for a while why would it be easier to butter and ollie on stiffer skis if you have no leg strength or dont wiegh much?

If your strong enough or wiegh enough or have the hieght and leverage over your skis a stiff ski will have consideribly more pop off of jumps and shit. a stiffer ski will make a quicker butter than a softer ski but will need to be muscled a little more at the start to make it come around. Stiffer skis turn better and are more agressive. Stiffer skis make for solid landings. Stiffer skis have more performance.

definatley stiff skis for pipe...no doubt...soft skis are fun but, stiff skis hold up better for andings and stuff, you have more control for sure

i like stiff but soft is forgiving

stiff kills it in the pow, so i would guess that soft would be a bit better in park for like butters and such, but i cant see having a stiff ski making all that much of a diff, so u might as well go with a stiff ski and get the best of both worlds

actually soft is better for pow... the softer flex allows your tips to stay above the snow for better flotation, and the extra flex gives you more spring to bounce through turns.

i have chronics and a pair of fs from a couple years ago. my chronics are more stable and i use them for big jumps(50ft and over) and pipe, but my fs are more fun on jibs and small stuff cause i can butter them like crazy. i am getting arvs, which appear to be a fairly soft ski
