Stiff skis or Soft skis??

so i'm pretty bored... i was just wondering

who likes skis that are way soft and buttery

and

who likes skis that are really stiff

personally i like stiff skis, dynastars and heads park skis are pretty stiff.. what about you guys??

I prefer stiff skis because you can actually ski on them without scaring the crap out of yourself. Ride a pair of invaders down the biggest line at your mountain, then try it with some Mojo 103's and you'll know what I'm talking about.

its true... i feel way safer on stiff skis not only just skiing down a gnarly line, but if i have a sketchy landing i feel like stiff skis can help me land easier

i like a really stiff tail. it's a sacrifice of the ability to ollie more than 18 inches high for the ability to pull off backseat landings.

That works to a certain extent. For example, I would love to get a pair of B Squads or Mojo 103's for this year, but either of those skis would totally dominate me if I ever landed backseat so I'm going for something softer like the Pro Rider or Mojo 105.

Stiff skis are more stable, they're better on harder snow or in variable conditions, and you can get away with a lot more on them if you have the power. On soft skis you can butter, but that's about all they have going for them.

if you have the power and the strength you can butter stiff skis enough to do what you need them to do... basically i think you can butter a stiff ski enough to do fun things or if you just need to but if you land in the backseat on a soft skis or are hitting a step down, the impact is gonna be pretty gnarly

i think stiff skis kill it for park, broken snow, fast lines, and big cliffs. however, i would much rather be on a soft ski for something like fresh 18" in the trees. buuuuuuut that's about it.

I think it was a legitimate question, no need for the search bar in this situation. And in that thread I think the list Skipig posted was the most accurate.

soft fur shure i like my skis playfull. i think you can be alott more creative in the park on skis with butter flex than you can on stiff skis... nose presses butters exc.

i like both

I've got Madtrix for days when im hitting bigger jumps, pipe, or when its generally icey

and I've got fujatives for when im jibbing and softer conditions.

I like mid stiff to stiff skis only because at my weight they would be considered not too soft, but soft enough to be fun on jumps.

i like a little bit stiffer of a ski but not like crazy stiff. im fairly big(6'1" and 180lbs) and i will dominate a soft ski and it will be all over the place. and what are the advantages of a soft ski? basically to ollie and butter, thats it. a stiffer ski though, helps on big jumps, landing backseat, skiing lines with them is way better, cliff drops, powder, crud, groomers, high speeds, i dont think it matters when it comes to rails and boxes though. i use some 05 skogens as my all mtn/park ski and there perfect, not to stiff even though it can be kinda hard to butter with them(idk, maybe its me) and there stable on landings of anything wether it be cliffs or jumps, and they own the trees

dont like them very soft eccept the tips if there park skis...usually like my skis mid flex or a bit on the stiffer side

for park soft and flexy, but for a all mountain i like them to be a a little more stiff then soft.

i thought that all mountain pow skis were made soft so the nose flexs and stays ontop of pow.... so someone answer me this... are stiff skis better for handleing pow or are soft skis better? cause i know the Arv and msp are both pretty soft but are also meant for pow and all mountain..

soft as fuck for hella playtime in the park and screwing around with your snowboarder freinds (elizabeths) and stiff in the tip for going mach5 and chargeing but a soft tail for fun and powder (p4) for me thats the ideal quiver

i like sorta in between.Soft skis are great in the pow-pow and stiff in the park.which i do both.the skis i have are the perfect stiffness for me.

in whistler i was riding the Foils (very soft) and loved the shit out of them. It was fun to just manhandle them all over the mountain. While that was fun i prefer a stiffer ski so that i can actually ski on the icy slopes of my home mtn.

I prefer closer to stiff because I'm not always in the park. Not to hijack the thread but how stiff are AR6's?
