Stiff park skis...

So, any disadvantages for having a stiff ski for park? seems like all the standard 'park' skis like scratchs n such are noodles.

 
u can land alot better with stiffer skis, softer tails can give out, if u can back seat

i like a stiffer ski, armadas, 4frnts, public enemy's and mad trix are stiff for park skis, yeah its frustrating looking for good park skis that are stifgf because most are flexi as hell and it sucks

more pop in the pipe and like someone already said if ya land backseat your tails have less of a chance of blowing out..i blew out the nose on mad trix but that was back in the day when i was learning spins and getting of axis..my speech is done.

its so much funner to have a soft ski so u can butter real long and easy adn shit but stiff is good for the pop too

stiff park ski is nice when you're landing airs. Your tail doesn't wash out. More pop, feels more solid.

no, they have the foam core, as well as they are designed softer in the tip and tail.

yeah 1080 is a soft ski and will only getting softer as time goes on b/c its foam. you should have gotten a wood core ski

great, i feel smart after putting down 400 for skis and bindings... which if i htink about it isnt bad

now wait a minute, just because pe's are stiffer than 1080's doesn't mean you got a bum deal.

The 1080's are designed that way so that landings are easier (ie you don't hit hard with tip/tail and bail).

Armadas are stiff, I've rode them last year, and the 4frnt MSPs seem really stiff too. PERFECT!

^^^^^^^^ The new madtrix are just last year's madtrix with new graphics and a new topsheet. This means they're still pretty stiff.

Concepts are the stiffest ski for park...go to a shop and flex them for yourself. I hear that the Armadas have a similar stiffness, but I haven't ridden them.

 
stiff skis will give you better, more solid landings IF you are landing them right. they are NOT forgiving though, go backseat and they will kick your ass, whereas you might be able to pull some kind of landing out of a softer tail. i know we've all seen people ride out some really sketch landings on pocket rockets. soft= easier, but not better. stiff skis will be better at most everything, you just need to be activly piloting them if you know what i mean.

Armadas are mnot stiff,not stiff on my hands anyways,I don't know how they handle in the slopes. But I don't think the PE's are stiffer,turtle man.

I dont find that having a stiff park ski is a disadvantage at all. most ppl can pop better on a soft ski. I spent last season on 1080s then volkl expressions. the expression is a wood core, stiffer than a 1080 and I can jib fine with it. personally I prefer stiffer, wood core skiis for park and softer shit for the BC.

Coyote, I disagree. If I land backseat on my V-Pros (pretty stiff), then I can normally ride away because the tails won't wash out. When I switched back to my Skogens I really noticed the difference if I didn't nail the landing dead-on.

 
'softer by a little than rossis' rossis are super soft softer than 1080 and I have heard from a guy who has TM's that they are super soft also...

 
the 04 scratchs I rode (non FS) were stiffer than the 1080, jammu

also some of the back seat landings I had this year on my expression would have been washouts on my 1080s. having a tail stiff ski or a tip stiff ski is great cause I know that I dont land right all the time, and I dont wanna wash out.

i was amazed at the stiffnes of mad trix. from flexing them in stores they are stiffer than any other ski period. i can make my skogens into a C. im serious ill post a pic its pritty funny

guys, it depends on your weight too, when i was at coc this summer i wieghed like 190 and pes were soft and forgiving, i dropped 30 pounds... i wonder if 1080s will be soft and forgiving... or just wash out, its a mystery

dude 30 pounds is a lot of weight to lose.

as a former racer no twin I have skiied cept the volkls and PE are stiff enuf for me and even then I want something a little stiffer
