Stick shifts

What kind of car do you drive? I've had and easier time driving a GTI and a 944 than my little old 2.0 Jetta. The clutch on my car is so.. meh. It's hard to get the feel for it, there's hardly any point where you can feel the friction, so it's taken me a long time like it seems it has for you.

Anyways, honestly, it just takes time. There were points where I was about to either sell the car, crash it for insurance money, or just not drive at all anymore. But now I'm getting a much better hang of it.

If you have a friend who is good at driving manual, go out with them. I was trying to drive with the rents and it was so hard because they would always yell. You gotta find a really understanding and calm friend to help you out. It made all the difference for me.

 
lift it up really slow until the clutch until the car start to slowly move forward then after you fell it move push on the gas boom your set
 
Hah I thought I was the only one, talk about stressful though, I thought my Dad was going to kill me. WTF though, I would never let my 16 year old son learn to drive a manual on my Porsche. Probably wouldn't let him drive it either.

best advice I can give. My dad always said that and it pissed me off cuz I thought I was, but I get what he was saying now. give it gas as you release the clutch, its okay to rev the engine up with the clutch down.
You can't stall if you give it gas
 
yeah dude those percents above are perf.... just approach it calmly and just release the clutch and push down the gas simultaneously at a slow pace... then you should be good
 
3000? as a new driver, you're going to end up wrecking your clutch if you do this often, which you will have to as a new driver

I've been driving stick for.... 9+ months? i absolutely love it. I drive a 2004 audi a4, i love it so much. two of my friends also started driving stick partially because of me and they have no regrets. Its a great thing to learn in the long run too. i hate driving automatics now... in fact, since i got my drivers license where i am able to drive alone, i have driven an automatic maybe 4 times, and 1 of those 4 times i got into a fender-bender (really retarded accident...), otherwise, accident free in my stick.

i learned in the A4 which is now mine. the first day out, my dad took me to a school parking lot, but he stopped on the street up to the school, which is on an incline, and had me go at it. It was probably the most frustrating things ever, i couldnt get going for shit. second time trying, i was getting going but still stalling a lot. Third time, i was hardly stalling.

even then though, i had doubts. it seemed like it was just stupid to want to drive a car like this...

but i just did it more and more, got better and better, and its been the best decision i've ever made
