STH2 Wing Adjustment

So I've been riding on my STH2 13 bindings for a couple of weeks now and I'm finding myself having to adjust the toe wings on a pretty regular basis. I'll get a little bit of play in the toe after only about 1.5 days on them. I can feel some movement when I'm clamped in if I pick up my fott and shake it back and forth. This is something I never ran into with my old STH14 drivers.

So what's the deal? Did I get a defective pair or is this just what I should expect?

have you checked the forward pressure? also, if the wings are coming loose, put some lock tight on the bolt that adjusts them. unfortunately, the salmon bindings can be a pain to adjust just right to other brand boots.

This is a good read if interested in learning more about your bindings

forward pressure, toe height, are your boots old and toes worn? all of those could play a factor. If all that is ok, and its just the screw backing out, as someone else said. put a little drop of loctite on there and you should be sweet.

Be very careful with loctite and plastic. If you get any on the plastic of the bindings, it will cause it to deteriorate.

Have you taken them into the shop you bought them from? There may br a bigger issue in play and you may be able to warranty them.

Thanks for all the responses. Checked forward pressure and toe height. Both are good. Boots are older Dalbello Kryptons. How would the wear on the boots affect the wings ability to stay tightened?

Yeah, that's what I don't get. When I get them tightened properly there's no play in the toe, but it develops over a few hours of skiing.

Not sure what the accuracy is if toe slop develops within a few hours of riding. That would seem to me to be a pretty inaccurate thing.

How are you judging how tight to make the wings? Tech told me to tighten it down until there was resistance, and then just back it up the slightest amount. Is this a good rule of thumb?

ive always done tighten down till resistance and back off a 1/4 turn or so.

I have always had issues with salomon pilot bindings and thats why i threw them out on a pair i had.
