Stevens Pass Thread 09/10

Not 100% but my ho fren was up there and saw here with oxygen and a neck brace by the FDF. apparently its somthing wrong with her back, real ceral like she may be having problmes moving here arms....

kayla told me bruised ribs, and something is wrong with her spinal cord and she cant move her arms

i feel so bad :(

day 1 was fogged out, day two we started below the ridge(so skipped the upper cliffy powder part and did the skied out mogul part). I missed my intended line by a few feet so jumped off of where I had ended up and landed it but not in perfect control. Then I ended up in a mogul field I couldn't see(flat light and steamy goggles), so I mostly tried to do it fast isntead doing it slower but smoother.. I got lots of compliments on my line though. When I knew I didn't podium I left early to ski powder, and most people didn't get a 2nd run.

Based on the scores I did see it seemed like they were judging on finesse more than chargyness, so the people who stayed in perfect control on harder lines obviously did best.

Here's one of the few areas I did after the comp:

BTW, can anybody confirm the rumor I heard of Whistler bringing back that Spankys Ladder bowls cliff hucking event?

^^

I remember that morning in about 1st grade when people at the bus stop were joking about about planes running into buildings on the news

yea sam that line looks sick. There is still a lot of great snow out there. Went down teh back of cowboy and had an amazing run, probably the best run I have had at Stevens. We were going to cut back into grace lakes but this guy lead who had no idea where he was going. Ended up traversing for awhile then going down this riverbed and had to walk for awhile through dirt and shit. We came out pretty much at the end of the fire-road.
Was a very sick run, I am hopefully going to ski a similar one thursday.
Are there any cliffs or anything dangerous anywhere above the fireroad? Didnt see anything when looking from down below, unless you go to far Skiers right and run into those cliffs by the highway where it makes a turn.

And that sucks that they were judging higher for people that were going slower and in control, its supposed to be whoever can ski the best line and ski it the fastest if I remember correctly.

^ I think he meant more that people who took harder lines but stopped and/or baubled got lower marks than those who had fluid runs. Thats really nothing new, though not always the case~

ahh I understand. He had a fluid run but was not technically as difficult as some of the other guys.
To bad you couldn't do two runs.

Candides winning run at the Chamonix leg of the freeride tour was one of the most fluid runs I have ever seen in a comp like that (random fact)

I meant that the top was obviously people who had the harder lines down perfectly, but then it was people who skied easy lines well over people who skied hard lines but not in perfect control, which bugged me a bit since I think they should encourage more gnarlyness.

Powderhound, where are you seeing the results and video? I don't really know what my line looked like since I didn't end up where I had visualized.

didn't see results or video. I just saw a picture of the podium, there were five guys and none of them were you. Might have seen it on TGR or something.

DPS is coming to demo at Stevens Feb 12-13. Pretty bummed that its one of the only weekends that I am gone.
They will also be at Alpental on the 14th and 15th.

DPS makes great skis and has lead some serious innovation these past few years. I've got huge respect for those guys. That would be worth demoing.

Hopefully I'll be up there Sat/Sunday.

THey are amazing skis and would be fun to demo. But if I am not mistaken you can get two pairs of ON3P for the price of one pair of DPS. Would definitely be fun to demo though, wish I was around.
