Stevens Pass Hope On The Slopes 2009/ Washington NS Member Gathering

The team is now full! Commence all fund raising activities. We have a very solid team this year and I think the team vert award is surely ours.

Although the team is full, I encourage others to come out for the member gathering or even sign up as an individual entrant on the hots website.

We will be getting/making t-shirts and emancipations (pro bandannas) for our team uniform which I am super stoked on.

And I will continue to make a new paragraph for every sentence since I am just that awesome~

Reply from Evo:

Hi Rowen,

Just wanted to touch base with you. I checked with our

non-profit sponsorship coordinator and we are all tapped out for the year.

Since our fiscal year runs April 1 to March 31, it means that you’re

catching us at the very end of our year and unfortunately we’ve already

used up everything in our budget.

Good luck with your fundraising and hopefully we’ll be

able to help out Team Newschoolers next year!

Cheers,

Just a reminder we will need 2000 dollars raised to qualify for team prizes and 200 dollars for an individual to qualify for prizes. I realize that is a lot of money and only a handful of teams have actually raised that much so honestly, I dont really expect us to get that much, but we should be able to reach our 1000 dollar goal, so raise some money!

Working on the uniform situation...

Also Id like to get some pictures and maybe footage for a story and an edit to post up on ski-gabber, hopefully generate more interest in this event. Well not really, its just I need MAD ++KKK cause im rated a 3.5, yeah thats the whole reason I did this, now you know my secret. Anyways as of this moment Billy has volunteered to take pictures and hopefully we will have someone to film as well. I imagine a lot of you will be lapping the park so hopefully you can form a nice group for some good footage~

Not sure how the prizes are allocated but im pretty sure 1st place individual is a pair of K2 skis and the other stuff is like Joe's/etc gift certificates~

hahaha well i was going to get layed off cause there poor as balls but the first snow i took the weekend off then the next weekend i took it off so i never worked anymore because of skiing. but i was a door greeter so i didnt do anything .
and i have nothing agaist you just thought you were stupid for making fun of someones tall tee.

speaking of tall tees i say we all where a huge tall tee

We thought about it but decided it was silly to fork over extra money for a uniform instead of just putting it towards killing cancer, we will however have uber steezy matching bandannas provided by emancipation neckwear~

last year only hogs was open all night, and just one run: hog heaven into hog wild. although the year before had big chief open.

Highlights

1. Says registration begins at 7 am vertical tracking begins at 9 am but if we want to register our season's passes we are supposed to go to the seasons pass booth at 10? Lolwut, no thanks.

2. I have to go to some captain's meeting to make sure all of you didnt fail at registering.

3. Need to get your passes validated/buy passes out of the season's pass booth. Also 2 day ticket is 62 dollars but a pass for the rest of the season is 79 dollars.... no brainer here.

4. Bring your college ID

5. If you are underage you need to print out the liability release (linked down below) and get that signed by a parent, if you forget I will fake your parent's signature for you on the mountain.

6. We can sleep in the Pacific Crest Lodge, ask will how fun driving back in the morning is, bring a sleeping bag and an air mattress, or sleep in your car.

7. Ryan has offered to film us so we will work that out so everyone can get some camera time for the edit.

8. May have to not do any ninja runs through closed areas at night because that would be totally unacceptable to me and somebody might get mad and then I would be oh so disappointed in you ; )~\

9. Might go to Fred Meyer and buy everyone cap guns for our uniform. Why you ask? Because cap guns are fucking awesome so fuck off.

10. More updates tomorrow, need to get back to studying for a physics exam~

The day of the event approaches fast and each and everyone has done a

magnificent job raising funds and signing up our teams. To date our

efforts have already approached three quarters of the fund raising goal

of $100,000. Over forty teams and over 375 participants have signed up.

This demonstrates the commitment and generosity the ski and board

community have. Yes, it’s also proof positive that both skiers and

snow boarders can work together for a worthy cause during challenging

economic times. We definitely are all on the same team, so

congratulations and thank you! Keep up the good work, and remember your

participation and contributions make a difference. Remember, all cancer

survivors are honored, cherished, and welcome.

Let’s have fun this weekend, meet new friends, and break our own

personal goals! Someone has to earn the prizes and the bragging rights

for another year. See you on the slopes this weekend and check the

announcements and schedule below for important info regarding

registration. Ride safe out there and in control!

Kind regards,

Brian Ulman

Co-Chair ACS HOTS

Stevens Pass, WA

P.S. Thank all our sponsors K2 Skis & Snowboard, Full Tilt Boots, The

Washington Potato Commission, Joes Sports Outdoor & More, and Ski

Magazine & SkiNet.com for all their generosity and support to make it

memorable for all. A special thank you goes to Stevens Pass and their

employees for hosting the event, and to all the volunteers for their time

and effort to make it all possible.

Registration: - This year we will be using Steven Pass’s RFID

(Radio Frequency Identification) lift access system to measure vertical.

All lifts with the RFID turn style will count towards your vertical

skied. It’s important to make sure your lift ticket or seasons

pass is registered with the area for vertical count and more importantly

access to the Hogsback lift after normal operating hours 10:00 pm on

Saturday. Registration will start at 7:00 am and go through 4:00 pm.

1. Stevens Pass will sell HOTS lift tickets for $62 out of the Seasons

Pass booth in the Pacific Crest Lodge (not the ticket booth or guest

relations) and are validated to ride the lifts for both Saturday and

Sunday (two of one). Awesome if your batteries are still charged and

want to ride for 36 hours straight! Sorry vertical counting stops at

9:00am.

2. Season Pass holders will need to have their passes validated for

vertical counting and access to the lifts after 10:00 pm out of the

Seasons Pass booth.

3. Separate from vertical counting each participant will need to register

with the ACS in the Pacific Crest Lodge. We will hand out bibs, collect

donations and entry fees not already paid as well as the Steven Pass/HOTS

liability release.

4. Click Here to download the liability release. Please remember if you

are under the age of 18 it will require your guardian’s signature.

5. College Students - bring your student ID. It’s needed to help

determine the winners for the collegiate prizes and next year’s

season passes up for grabs.

Below are some announcements and information you may find useful:

- Personnel from the ACS will be able to collect any checks or cash

donations you may need to turn in. Credit cards will also be accepted.

Both will be counted in the results for the awards ceremony on Sunday.

- You may want to bring your own snacks and keep your energy high. The

lodge food service will be closed after 10:00 pm. The ACS is throwing a

midnight apres-ski BBQ Saturday evening with burgers, hot dogs/brats, &

chips on tap. Coffee & hot chocolate available though out the event.

Stay hydrated and carbo-loaded!

- Consider bringing a sleeping bag & pillow. The Pacific Crest Lodge

will be open all night if you need to stretch out and rest. Space will

be cordoned off upstairs, but remember you and your team are responsible

for watching your own stuff. The ACS or Stevens Pass is not responsible

for lost or stolen items.

- We will be taking team pictures throughout the day. Signup for a time

to have your team photograph taken.

- Send out an extra e-mail. As a reminder research shows letter writing

is the most effective way to raise donations.

Schedule for Saturday & Sunday March 7th and 8th :

- 7:00am to 4:00pm - Registration starts at the Pacific Crest Lodge -

Event HQ

- 8:45am - Opening Ceremonies in front of Event HQ

sure all team members are registered with Stevens Pass and vertical

tracking is working properly. Important for access to the lifts after

10:00 pm.

through the night.

- 10:00pm - Area closes for normal operations. Hogsback remains open for

the 24 hour marathon.

- 11:00pm - The ACS sponsors the “Midnight BBQ” for all

He’s the man to watch!

Plan on getting there early as well. Registration and pass activation is a GUARANTEED clusterfuck, if you want to ski by 9 show up around 8 id say~

anyone have any goggles that are suitable for night riding that i might be able to borrow?

my eg2's wont cut it i dont think.

Got a check from owners of my store, and a flat of red bull for us.

We still dont have a jersey or anything. I have the day off tomorrow, might try to come up with something.

As for rides, I know I'm taking David and another member up to Stevens, so I have a window seat and bitch left open for anyone. Lemme know if you want one.

That flat might be gone by the time we roll into the parking lot. Look for the people visibly shaking and talking about 800 words a minute.

I'm going to be there Friday to get my spring pass before the crazy shit goes down Sat. morning. Anybody want to shred and show me around?

Wasnt even planning on doing anything besides the emancipations, but if you need any help my schedule tomorrow is really flexible, just studying for physics and 1 class at 4:30~

haha wil. i was just being wicked hawdcore that day.

and rowen, i needs a ride... save both of those seats for me, i might be bringing down a girly pants.

if everything goes well and i can get people to cover me this weekend then i'll be rolling down to seattle tomorrow sometime... rowen, is it cool i pull up some carpet at your dwelling?

Since I still get calls on my "new" cell phone number for drugs, does anyone want any cocaine? I could probably bring a couple of 8-balls, or if I get in touch with Chris I might be able to bring a key or two o' dat funk dat sweet dat nasty dat gushy stuff.

Hahahahaha......

For one thing, I picture both Sam and Billy in tight girls pants, full on Seattle hipster style, on the ski hill. That's full on hilarious.

Then I think about Billy actually getting into a girls pants, and I fall out of my chair laughing.

Oh shit, I didn't even think about this, but I have about 500 glow stick necklaces that we can use. I will bring all of them. Don't ask me how I ended up buying 500 glow sticks, but in the same stint I also bought a single soccer cone called a Wazzy.

We're rolling in glowsticks, I like it.

As for carpet space, I think that should be okay. Problem is rides though, as Sams friend is going to push my car over the allowed seating.

I realy want to win but I just injerd my hip so we will see how that goesI'd be down to rip with anyone who wants to go fast all day all nightRowen We should leave early, what time do you think you will pick me up?

7 is the projected time we'll show up. That means that everyone staying at my place needs to get the fuck up and out at 6:45 and no later. Your alarm will be me rocking out on my axe to LIVIN ON A PRAYER at 6:30.

jesus billy, let us take you to a party already. lets get you some drunk hoe to give you a clittutorial, no man should be THAT excited about something that will never happen. she'll be on my lap, or in the back.

might not be coming down, we got her some new skis and bindings yesterday and we ran into a problem as far as mounting goes. got the wrong size Barons. whoops.
