Stevens Pass Hope On The Slopes 2009/ Washington NS Member Gathering

Well im not sure I want to do something extravagant for a team uniform but we do need a way to easily identify other team members or other newschoolers for the day. Nick suggested a bandanna around the arm, belt something? Kind of like a gang sign heh, but it would work out well I think. Thoughts?~

nonsense. have you ever skied all night? watched the sunrise from a chairlift?

"Top Teams who accumulate the most combined vertical footage".

the uw snowboard team won last year.

oh so its like everyones feet put together?

cause some other homies are riding that i will be with and i didnt know if it was like all the teams are always toogether

yeah you wouldnt have to hold everyone's hand on your team when going thru the RFID thinges (but i would recommend holding rowen's hand as much as possible).

so yeah if all 15 slots aren't taken yet, i'm sure scott would not mind at all if you signed up and scanned in a few hours of laps for us. obviously it'd be preferred to have people who really really want to ski as much as possible, but any help is a big help.

saturday at 9am.......go time to just go ski as much as you want. however its probably limited to hogs and skyline for counting your vertical feet. 11pm they stop and regroom the hill and cook burgers (or veggie burgers). then at midnight the halftimes over and hogsback opens up. then you ski until 9am. and then they count all your vertical feet. then you stand on the podium. then fall asleep driving home because you've been up all night.

im down to ski all night again, it was pretty fun. i learned how to two minute power nap on the hogsback lift ride.

i think it raised $150,000 at this event for the American Cancer Society last year. best way possible to fight the worst thing possible (unless you hate skiing and work at fred hutch).

hopefully it will use their cattle guard gates.

last year you got a little tag and they had their own little sensor under a traffic cone or something, and you had to lean over and rub it on the cone and wait for the beep. meanwhile everyone else in line is wondering why you were drying humping a cone.

I don't think I'm going to make the drive from bham,

I just wanted to suggest you ask Bishop or someone for a sticker/shirt hookup if your going to be "team NS"

good luck, ya'll

shit i think I fucked up while reg.I followed the link then pressed "join our team" then I checked join an already existing team, then finished filling out the info but I think I must have messed up somewhere because i'm not on the team does the team caption have to approve members or something?

Went out to the admins:

Hey, I'm pinging all the admins on this, sorry for the mass message.

A bunch of members from WA, myself included, have put a team together for the 2009 Hope on the Slopes event at Stevens Pass. Its a fundraiser for cancer, and they track vertical feet accumulated in 24 hours. We're all getting donations from co-workers, parents and employers, and so far its going well. However, with a little over a week to go, we find ourselves lacking some sort of team uniform...

This is where I hope NS can come in and help. We need something, anything, to label our "Team NS" as "Team NS". We can do stencil jobs on thrift store t-shirts, but it would be really sweet to have something a bit more professional. After all, we'll be challenging the 3 University of WA Snowboard teams for total vertical accumulated, and it would be nice to look put together when we show them all up.

If there is anything lying around the NS office that you could spare - stickers, jerseys, shirts, suit jackets - we just need 15 of them to make our team official. The event is on March 7th-8th, and I would be happy to cover the cost of express shipping if its an issue.

Also, we're set a goal of hitting $1000 in donations for our team, and right now we have $370. I know its a lot to ask, but if theres any leftovers in the NS slush fund, this would be a great event to donate to. Link:

Thank you for anything you can do, even if its an official endorsement and waiver to use the NS logo as a stencil.

Team NS for Hope on the Slopes 2009

Thanks much Rowen, been in study hell lately so any support is more than welcome heh~

We will have to decide on some kind of uniform/gang sign if NS office doesnt pull through for us. The basic ideas right now seem to be bibs or some kind of bandanna hanging off ourselves. I really dont want to choose anything that people will have to go out of their way to obtain/buy. So if anyone has some extra bib type things that would work, or other ideas let us know.

Also! Spots are filling up fast, seems as though huckbunnie and crew will be filling up 4 spots which would leave us with only 3 left. Of course if everything does fill up I still encourage you to sign up as an individual.

Barring an epic pow day that would interfere with our desire to ride skyline etc I expect us to dominate the vertical challenge, nothing else is acceptable, oh and take every opportunity to flash your twin tips to the racers, ask will how much they luv dem twin tips~

My friend is captain of one of the three UW snowboard teams. We need to fucking CRUSH them.

I'm not afraid of getting 15 shirts from valu village and stenciling them with spraypaint. I'd be fine to absorb the cost, but a few bucks would be nice if we dont get the NS hookup. Also, ASK PEOPLE FOR MONEY. I have a bunch of sheets I'll be handing out tomorrow to my co-workers and Evo, but ask your friends and family if they would like to donate for an excellent cause.

I was thinking about it and realized that I could make Emancipations for the whole team. What color would you guys want? I was thinking something light and bright... maybe a neon blue?

Also I was thinking I could put some words on it... maybe "NS>Cancer" or "We Hate Cancer!", something along those lines.

For those of you who don't know what Emancipation is, it is a fleece lined bandanna.

Let me know what you guys think.

Talked to Justin who runs marketing for Evo today. He said that Evo is definitely going to contribute to Team NS, and to hold off on stenciling shirts or anything, he can hook us up. Will get full details on Monday from him, I'll let you know as soon as I get work.

As for NS.com, no admins have replied yet....

so... on a different note, daylight savings time beings sunday morning at 2am... that means we will be skiing in PST and PDT that morning. Does this make it, technically, a 23 hour competition (not including the break)?

If things pan out, I'm in.

I will also be falling asleep during some point of this if I can do it, but will make up for it by bringing the rock3tships and pushing them to their full potential. I will most likely consume an energy drink, which is something that rarely ever happens.

For those of you coming from other mountains an interesting deal popped up. For $20 more than your HoTS 2-day ticket you can buy a pass good for the rest of the season (April 15th). 79 bucks is pretty cheap for all those days you could pack in.

There are only 3, soon to be 2 spots left. If you are still thinking about signing up and would like to be on the team you better get your ass in gear. Also I see a lot of people havent begun collecting donations. This is all in fine but with a week to go you should probably get on it. Or procrastinate until friday, thats cool too~
