Stevens Pass backcountry

On the highway side.

Me and my friend decided to get out of the shit weather all over the mountian last week and hiked up past the clouds on Southern Cross. We went a ways beyond the backcountry sign and then found a narrow chute to drop down. It got totally sick, like 10 wide and a mandatory drop at the bottom, emptying out in the glades far to the left of the Big Chief bowl when you look back up the mountian.

Anyways, i was wondering if anyone had a backcountry map for stevens that includes more lines like that. Thanks, and i might actually start getting on the site more now that im into the UW and can slack at school.

I've never heard of a map. I guess you just need local knowledge. So did you end up hitch hiking back. I know people who have done that but didn't get a ride.

that whole ridge between tye mill and the top of cowboy has a lot of short, steepish chutes and stuff. some good stuff in there with a short hike. big chief bowl has a bunch all along the top, where you did it seems, theyre pretty good too.

would anyone show me around the bc around stevens? I can see all the sick lines out there but haven't had anyone to show me around.

btw-this sunday I saw a hanging snowfield that had a huge crown on it. it was way out on that ridge that goes out right if your looking down the backside. musta been like 10-15 feet. anyone else see it?

get a USGS topo map of stevens pass, if you know how to read a map, that should give you a good idea of whats out there

if u go off the side of brookes, id bring a radio and be ready to hike ur ass off. the snow's sick, but u have to hike out over this lake, up a couple of hills, then hike some more, then come out 2 miles down on the freeway 2 and a half hours lata and hitch a ride. theres a catrack somewhere, but we couldnt find it.

^now thats just stupid, thats comming out like at old faithful and shit. you can end up comming out at where the cabins are off the side of brooks. still have to hike, but 2 miles from the pass is messed up. now 6 miles, thats alright

Has any one ski'd the Backcountry to the far side of gemini on the big ridge. I guess go to the saddle between gemini and that back bowl, and then hike up to the small peak with the big cornice you can see when you get off Jupiter by the buckel up place looking towards gemini. After you reach the peak you ski down the ridge until you reach outerlimits? Does that work? Whats the run like in terms of terrain?
